About Mrs. Waffle

A few weeks ago, I had this strange sensation at my first dress fitting.

“Wow. This is really happening. I am getting married.”

Things were starting to feel seriously real. The idea of our wedding was suddenly for real our wedding. Other happenings in the past two weeks confirmed what I felt. It all started to be very real when…

  • We bought our rings
  • The invites went out
  • RSVPs started trickling in
  • Putting the pieces of the ceremony together
  • Our friends are starting to get a funny, excited twinkle in their eye when they mention the wedding

What moment woke you up and made you realize things were getting real?

I had my first true light-bulb moment this past weekend while we were putting together our seating chart. I loved seeing our RSVP envelopes in the mailbox, though!

aww your post made me tear up. i honestly can’t wait for the moment that my wedding seems SO real. i felt a sense of that when we took our engagement pictures almost 2 weeks ago because they’ll be on our save the dates. i’m sure though it will not even compare to the moment, like you, when the rsvp’s start coming in!

We bought our wedding bands last weekend, but instead of reinforcing how quickly the wedding is coming, it kind of fell into the “that’s weird. no way is the wedding that soon” pile. Glad it’s getting real for you!

Sending out the invites and getting the RSVPs back started to make it feel real for me.

these are the exact moments that made the wedding feel real for us too!!! i’d also like to add:

-signing our first apartment lease and buying furniture

I always forget how real this is. So pretty much any time something wedding related gets done, I’m like, “OMG we’re getting married!”

I continually have this moment. Ahh, we met with our priest…’THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING!’ Ooooh, we got back our engagement pictures, ‘WE’RE REALLY GETTING MARRIED?’ We’re still 7 months out—I can only imagine that this feeling is going to intensify as we get closer. Eeeeek!

Still waiting for the surreal feeling to disappear and reality to hit me. Even as my dress bustle was pinned for alterations tonight… nothing.

This past weekend when I had my final fitting for my gown! Wow, we are still about 1 month away, but seeing myself in my dress-with the veil made me cry. I thought about seeing my sweetie’s face as I am walking toward him, I thought about my Dad giving me away-I’m a total Daddy’s girl! I finally found the perfect entrace song for my Dad and I. I tear up each time I listen to the words! I chose “The One He Kept for Me” and it is beyod beautiful and appropriate for us. Luckily, I am a planner, so most of the large items on our list are checked off. But as we complete the smaller tasks, I’m reminded of just how real and near it is. I am excited about the wedding, but can’t wait for our marriage and truly being able to share my life with him. Always.

Ring shopping and finalizing the last of the big vendors reminded me how real it was.
