Mrs. Cotton Candy, Riverside, CA Age and Occupation: 29, Field Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Process Server Engagement Date: July 5, 2007 Wedding Date: June 2011 Venue: Riverside Art Museum About Me: I’m a girl in love with her best friend planning a small mid-century modern inspired wedding that’s been a long time coming. I love all things design, sewing, flea markets, and a good book. I’ve been known to swoon over a well-designed chair and often find myself craving a new addition to my chair collection regardless of the lack square footage in our home. I’m Mexican American girl who hates all things spicy but loves her rowdy Mexican family and her Latin roots. My wedding muses may not be your typical wedding superstars, but with a lot of DIY, a dash of offbeat style, and lots of love and laughs, Mr. Cotton and I plan to create a day that is unmistakably us.
About Mrs. Cotton Candy

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been driving myself mad searching for a wedding bracelet that would make me forget the one I originally liked. I became a woman obsessed—every day I would search like a mad women for THE perfect bracelet and every day I would moan to Mr. CCandy that nothing else compared to the Kate Spade and why can’t we be independently wealthy so I could buy a truck full of perfect bracelets.

Needless to say I was driving Mr. CCandy crazy so when I casually mentioned Kate Spade’s friends and family sale he tossed me his wallet and told me to buy the freaking bracelet. Surprisingly I said no, even with the discount I couldn’t justified spending almost 200 bucks on a piece of jewelry I would wear for one day.

Mr. CCandy wasn’t too happy with my decision; he was tired of hearing about the damn bracelet and gave me what he calls his David Tutera speech. He told me, and I quote, “for our wedding day, as long as it is within our means, you should get what you want. Yes, it’s only for one day but it’s THE day and he would hate knowing that on our wedding you  would be regretting your choice of accessories because you wanted to save what equaled to a couple of dinners out.”

Swoon, Have I mentioned I love this man? I melted and agreed to head down to the Kate Spade store in Pasadena to see the bracelet in person.

Unfortunately for me they didn’t have the bracelet in stock but they did have several others that I had been eying online. One in particular caught Mr. CC’s eye and he proclaimed to me and the sales associate that it was the one, and bought it on the spot!

Here she is in all her sparkly bauble glory:

And with the rest of my accessories:

It’s completely different from the original bracelet, but I love it even more and it looks perfect with the rest of my accessories. I also love that Mr. CC fell in love with it to,o and the price was about 80 bucks cheaper than the pearl bracelet, so it was a win all around.

Has your FI surprised you during your engagement? Was your FI involved with choosing any part of your wedding day look?

My husband and I have been married 9 years (we are planning a vow renewal for our 10th wedded yr in 2012) and I had totally forgotten about a time before we were married when he surprised me with his winderful sweetness and put the icing on the cake for the many reasons I had married him! Your post just made me think of it, when we decided to get married I was 16, he was 17, he proposed a year later when I was 17 (he was 18) and we decided to make it official when I was 20 & he was 21. Needless to say we were not financially stable, we had been living in our own place since I was 18 and had a 3 yr old son by this point. Our wedding set was cheap engagement ring and both wedding bands cost about $500, I fell in love with another set that was $200 more than that… but we were young and we were broke so I settled for the cheaper set with the idea that at our 5th or 10th year we would upgrade to better sets… we began payments on the cheaper set and planned to get them out three days before the wedding. He surprised me the night before the wedding (he was handing over the wedding bands to his trusted best men ) when he presented me with the engagement ring from the set I had wanted… and the next day I at our wedding we had the matching wedding bands of the set I wanted! he had saved the extra $200 and given me what I had asked for… I have never taken my rings off and we have always gotten complimented on how “beautiful” our rings were, I always said he wasn’t because they were expensive… they are still very cheap compared to some but the meaning behind our rings make them shine pricelessly. Unfortunately my husband’s ring has broken since then and we will be upgrading to better/sturdier rings but nothing can change the way I feel about my “cheap” set! LOL… thank you so much for conjuring this memory… it is definitely one of a long list of “bests” for my hubby!! Sorry this story ran a little long! LOL

Aww, my FI absolutely shocked me when I told him I’d bought a second dress. I totally expected him to flip out and be upset. But he was totally fine with it. Sure, he rolled his eyes a little, but he told me he just wanted me to be happy with my dress and if this new dress was the one that made me happy, then he was excited to see it! :)

Aww, that’s so adorable.

But nah, he just said as long as I was in a white dress, that was enough.
