Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. About Mrs. Jaguar

A Band for the Man

April 14th, 2011 @ 6:08 pm by Mrs. Jaguar

As the weeks keep speeding by, Mr. Jaguar and I have started to realise that we don’t have quite as much time to ‘do wedding stuff’ as we thought—so instead of putting things off until a little later, we’re doing them now, now, now. First thing on the agenda? Finding him a ring.

I had ring-insecurity back in the day because of my large fingers—Mr. Jaguar had the opposite problem. He’s quite tall and lanky, as are his fingers, but he has one other quirk: he has really wide knuckles. It basically means that he’s never worn a piece of jewellery in his life, because either a) the ring is too big and swims on his finger, or b) the ring is too tight and he struggles getting it off again over his knuckle.

First things first: what style did he want? I wear white gold and my wedding bands are both platinum, so if we wanted to match, white gold or a silvery-metal would be an obvious choice. But since Mr. Jaguar doesn’t wear jewellery, I wanted him to pick something that he felt comfortable with. We tried on a few two-tone pieces, some different textured metals, and he kept going back to the same thing: a simple, white-gold band. That was that: he got sized properly, the ring was altered, and we walked out an hour later with his wedding band in tow.

It’s going to take some time for him to get used to wearing the ring. He’s put it on and off a few times since we bought it, because he’s trying to get used to popping it up and squeezing it around his knuckle—it’s quite cute to watch.

I loved watching him choosing, I loved watching him put this one and just know straight away this was it. The poor guys: they get the short end of the stick when it comes to picking wedding rings, but I’m just happy that he’s happy, ya know? And best of all, they unintentionally match perfectly!

Mr. Jag’s band is perfect. :) Mr. O was surprisingly specific about what he wanted and was soooo happy when he saw the finished product. Can’t wait to share it with the hive! :)

My FH has the exact same, wide-knuckled problem :) But he’s been a great sport about choosing his band and accepting that he’ll have to fight with his oddly-shaped fingers if he ever want to take it off :)

I suggested my FI get a band with milgrain to match the detailing in my band, but he ended going with a plain white gold band. But we still match in color :)

My FH didn’t really have any kinda idea on what he wanted, so we just went to the jewlry store one day and after trying on several different types he finally picked one that he liked.

Mr. PaC took longer than expected in choosing a ring. He didn’t settle on one during our first visit and considered his choices carefully over the next month. Mr. Jag’s ring looks great!

My boy didn’t want to wear a ring and I was completely fine with that. I am not marrying him for a ring.

But I thought it would still be nice to exchange something, and didn’t want a necklace or anything else. So I convinced him to get a ring for the ceremony that can stay in it’s box after the wedding.

I found the perfect one on the weekend for $10!

I’m glad that Mr. Jag was able to know what he wanted when he went shopping.

When we went ring shopping and I didn’t think I have seen a guy be so picky about something that didn’t matter what it looked liked to him… So needless to say he (we) are still on the hunt…

Nice choice! Agree though, shopping for the guy’s ring is so much easier! Mr. H and I picked his out in about two hours max, and mine required multiple shopping trips and me generally being super picky.
