Before we get into the ceremony itself, I thought it would be nice to show you what the ceremony room looked like all set up.
I was very insistent on wanting to keep the ceremony room very simple - there are huge windows with gorgeous views of the lake, and the architecture in the room is beautiful, so I didn’t want to detract from any of that. I’m so, so glad we decided to keep it simple, because I loved the way it turned out!

Those stupid, evil flower balls took so. much. time to put together, but I absolutely loved how they looked in the room.

Mr. Cardigan and his groomsmen had gone to get our giant balloons filled up that morning, and I was so happy with how they turned out!

Beyond the paper flowers and the balloons, the only other thing we had in the ceremony room was our programs. Rather than having someone standing there handing them out, or placing them on a table where people were sure to pass them by, we put one on every chair!

I know I didn’t share the ceremony programs at all before the wedding, but that’s because they were thrown together at the last minute (with a ridiculous amount of help from the amazing Sister Cardy and her Cricut machine!)
Here are some quick photos of what they looked like on the inside (sorry about the blurring but, you know, privacy and all that):

And those were our programs. Nothing incredibly exciting, but they did the job. I was, obviously, inspired by Mrs. Cupcake’s amazing programs when I was making these!
I’m sure some of you are wondering where the ceremony flowers are. I mean, any florist will tell you that ceremony flowers are essential, right?
Um, no. The only flowers we had in our ceremony were the bouquets…

…and the boutonnieres.

And that was our extremely simple, completely DIY approach to ceremony decor.
And now, my friends, let the ceremony begin!
Do you have a “keep it simple” approach to ceremony decor, or do you like lots of decorations?
