I don’t really know how the paperwork is done in your part of the world, but here in NZ the signing of the register is incorporated into the ceremony. I love the photo above because it shows Mr E and I sharing a private happy moment as the honorary best man signs as a witness. Our faces are saying- “Dude! We’re totally married!” Or something to that effect.
While the signing was done, our musician played this song:
This was a last minute change to the programme, but when Mr E stumbled across the song, we knew we had to include it somewhere.
Then it was time for some Seuss! My good Aussie friend (and mother of our flower girl!) read “Oh the Places You Will Go!” with the perfect flair.
After the ceremony, many of the men said that when they saw Seuss in the programme they thought it was a mistake…but then when Friend T read it, they cried! It brought back many nostalgic memories for them apparently. People who were at our wedding still talk today about it being their favourite part of the ceremony.
Our officiant then stepped in.
Bonnie and Josh, you have made the declarations, expressed the love you have for each other and that you have hopes for the future.
You have made promises to each other and have symbolised them by joining hands and giving rings.
You have committed yourselves to one another in love, joy, and tenderness. It is with great joy that you have given all of us the privilege to be here to witness this step you have both made.
Thank you for that privilege.
You are now husband and wife, let no one separate what God has joined together. May God give you his wisdom to guide you, and his love to unite you, so that you may be faithful to the vows you have made this day, and live together in joy and peace forever. Amen.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Bonnie and Josh- husband and wife!

We recessed to “Not Fade Away” by the Rolling Stones.

Then our guests joined us and soon it was hugs all around. Photos like these ones make me happy because they bring back all the love we felt that day:
Ahh…good times.
