Dress, Shoes, What Else?

April 18th, 2011 @ 12:49 pm by Mrs. Cinnamon Bun

So, I’ve got a wedding dress. I’ve got shoes to wear with it. What else do I need?

I don’t really wear jewelry regularly. I’ve got a few delicate little necklaces that I wear every now and then, but not often. I probably don’t wear them to often because my work outfit always includes jeans, because I never know when I’ll end up moving furniture or crawling under the stage for whatever reason. This whole wedding thing though means that I should probably wear some jewelry at least. I used to always wear the same stud earrings every day, but I took them out a few months ago and keep forgetting to put them back in!

So, I’m asking for your help, hive. But first: Mr Cinnamon Bun - the next photo is going to be of a real lady (not a model) in the dress I’m wearing to the wedding. I will leave it to you to decide if you want to see it or not, as I did show you the photo of the dress on a model.

This lovely bride pulled it off with just some pearl earrings, and looks amazing. All the detail in the embroidery on the skirt makes me wonder if less would be more with this dress? Then another part of me wants an amazing pearl statement necklace with lots of strands twisted together. But part of the reason I loved the dress was how delicate it felt, and then I feel like heavy jewelry would weigh it down.

I also love organic jewelry that looks like it could have grown out of the ground and just been cast in gold… like either of these pairs of studs from JennyKim:

Poppies

Roses

In other words…what should I do, hive? How would you style this dress for a girl who rarely wears jewelry apart from her watch?

I Think those rose ones woudl look really lovely. Yes I think you shoudl wear something, but it doesnt have to be heavy nor do you need lots of stuff.
These rose earrings and maybe a simple bracelet? Perfection :-)

Loooooooove the rose earrings. I think that a small, delicate necklace would work great with that dress.

Both earring options are lovely, but I think they should be big enough to be seen (like the pearls) and they look like they might be small.
I agree that less is more with your dress (which is so gorgeous by the way)!

I think a lovely pair of floral studs as featured above would look gorgeous and not overwhelm you or the dress.

I think that neckline would look gorgeous with a thin, delicate gold necklace, but it’s all about what you feel comfortable in. I LOVE the studs you posted!

If you’re going to wear those adorable rose earrings, I suggest finding a yellow-gold necklace with a small pendant on it.

I think just earrings and nothing else. I agree much more would be overwhelming, but pretty little studs would be just right!

Both of those earrings are beautiful! I am like you and never wear jewelry unless it’s a tiny necklace. I found that the brand dogeared (www.dogeared.com) was perfect for me. I ordered myself and my bridesmaid’s a tiny white pearl on a gold strand, and some very simple pearl earrings. They have lots of beautiful but delicate pieces that you might love!

I can’t wait to see more of your dress! I love the idea of wearing delicate earrings, especially since they seem to match your personal style. It’s all about what you’re most comfortable with!

Those studs are really lovely, and I like the idea of going simpler with accessories because your dress is quite delicate as well.

I’m not sure what you should wear (although I do think some sort of necklace looks good with strapless dresses), since I’m in the same boat. Just wanted to chime in & say that I, too, after wearing earrings since grade 6, took mine out because of some irritation, and have yet to put them back in again…a year after the fact. >.< I’ll probably wind up having to get my ears re-pierced…ouch!

I think a big part of it depends on how you want to wear your hair, but if you are going updo then a lovely pair of studs would be great. Also, are you doing a veil, a fascinator or anything in your hair? Personally I feel naked without a necklace on so I have to have one. Since the top of your dress is quite simple you could definitely rock a statement necklace, or just a simple small pendant would be lovely too. Truthfully I’m no help since I feel pretty clueless about how to accessorize my dress.

My plan is to try my dress on with lots of different jewellery options and see what feels best. I think that will help me make my decision!

I love that dress, and think that the rose earrings alone would be perfect :)
