Mrs. Lox, Baltimore Age and Occupation: 33, Government Worker Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35. IT Consultant Engagement Date: May 8, 2010 Wedding Date: May 2011 Venue: Vandiver Inn About Me: I’m an East Coast gal born and bred and a suburban brat turned city rat for the last year. Now Mr. Lox and I enjoy walking all kinds of places, having the coolest things around in our backyard, and especially our garage parking. I love gadgets, toys, Ben & Jerry’s Chubby Hubby ice cream, monkeys, and our insane cats. I’m a blonde by birth and a redhead by choice. I’m that girl in the cubicle farm with all the cool toys and the file cabinet covered in magnetic poetry. I still use smiley faces in my emails, whether people like it or not. This is not the first rodeo for Mr. Lox nor me. And together, we are planning an intimate afternoon wedding on a budget we can afford by ourselves.
About Mrs. Lox

Ring Around My Finger

April 20th, 2011 @ 5:14 pm by Mrs. Lox

The search for my wedding band was oddly difficult. Unlike Mr. Lox, I knew exactly what I wanted when we set out. And it wasn’t exotic or crazy so it shouldn’t have been hard to find. At least, that was my logic. That was not, however, the reality of the situation. (Come on, you saw that coming. An easy transaction wouldn’t make for a very good blog post, now would it?)

I wanted a channel set princess cut band in white gold. so far, so good. And I wanted the diamonds to start and stop more or less where the channel set princess stones on my engagement ring do. Initial shopping trips indicated this would amount to roughly a .5 tcw band. You probably already spotted the problem in there… the starting and stopping matching up. Yeah… that was a rough one.

The search kind of went pear-shaped quickly. and to make matters even worse, our budget crisis occurred just as we were starting to shop. Meaning that all of a sudden we had to totally slash the budget for my ring. I would love to pretend I took that well, but I’d be lying. The truth is, I resented it. Big time. Especially since I had bought Mr. Lox a rather expensive (for what it was) band because it was what he truly wanted. And now, the reality was that what I wanted was irrelevant because we were short on cash. I’m going to go back to pretending this never happened now, if it’s all the same to you. Back to ring hunting we go!

Enter our very own Miss Crepe, who gave me the idea to seek out a jeweler.

What I wanted could be custom designed to meet my specifications exactly. Which, to me, sounded even more expensive. But it was quite the opposite. So with the seed planted in our little minds, we went off to a jeweler.

And you guys, we lucked out. Not only did I get more than I expected, but for less than we ever expected to pay. Miss Crepe didn’t steer me wrong… this was clearly the way to go. So, without further ado, I present to you, my wedding band!

It’s beautiful! We haven’t really started looking for our wedding bands yet. I’m afraid I’m going to have a hard time finding one that will sit under my engagement ring, so a jeweler may be the way to go for me as well!! Thanks for sharing :)

They look beautiful together! What a great match! I thought this process would be easier too but have been to 4 stores only to be disappointed. Looks like I will have to look into custom as well, glad to hear it can actually be less expensive!

We just bought ours last weekend! FI found a steel band with gold (to match mine) in the store that fit him so his got go come home. I have tiny fingers, though, and mine is off getting sized. Not exactly what I had in mind but pretty.

It looks great! My ring designer had a band that matched my e-ring, so I just went with that.

Once I made the decision that I wanted diamonds in my band, it was easy to find one. I have a three stone engagement ring, so I got one that was slightly curved so they sit well together.

FI on the other hand knows exactly what he wants and it apparently doesn’t exist!

Our Aggie rings are gold, and he wants gold to match that, even though my rings are white gold. I’m still kind of bummed that our rings won’t match at all :(

Yay! If you hadn’t already done it, I’d tell you that we added two teeny tiny diamonds to my pave wedding band to get it to match up with the band on my e-ring, at a grand total of $50 extra.

And I LOVE your set. :)

Custom is often cheaper I’ve found. My ring and bang were custom made and my fi got my princess cut, 1.25 I/VS1 14k white gold tiffany style engagement ring AND my 14k white gold .75tcd channel set princess cut wedding band (diamonds are 2/3 around the ring) for not joking, HALF what department stores wanted. A lot of the time if I can’t find something I want, whether it be a perfect bag or shoes or jewelry, I turn to etsy.com and I would say 80% of the time its cheaper or it works out cheaper when I add in the value of getting what I truly wanted.

GORGEOUS! I am now going to go find a jeweler. I’ve been searching for the perfect band for ages to no avail; you and Crepe have restored hope!!!
