Saving the Date: Part II

April 22nd, 2011 @ 3:48 pm by Ms. Gazelle

You can catch up and read Part I here!

I started designing the back of the postcard. I loved this vintage postcard graphic that I found on Martha Stewart and worked from there.

Postcard graphic via Martha Stewart / Bike graphic via Paper Source

The main text is Traveling Typewriter from dafont, an amazing resource for tons of free fonts. The date is Pea Valerie from Fonts for Peas.

As for the bike: why the bike? I purchased the bicycle as a rubber stamp at Michaels, and I plan to use it on our invitation suite. This was my way of trying to tie our save the dates in with our invitations. It seems fitting for us Gazelles, since we love riding our bikes.

Time to tackle the front of the postcard! I wanted some kind of embellishment on the front to highlight our date. I found a bracket that I liked off of One Heart Weddings, then played around with it in PowerPoint to change the colour and add in some texture. This is what I came up with:

Now, which picture to use? I picked our four favourite pictures and tested them out with the date embellishment on them.

I honestly really liked them all, but I think that the top right and the bottom left wound up being my two favourites.

Stay tuned for Part III…the final reveal! Which one is your favourite?

Oooh, I actually think I like the top left the best! But maybe I was just inspired by your previous post with the Vancouver skyline. Still, the city lights are pretty on the other ones…

I like the top right. Something to do with the pose and the angle makes it sweet yet interesting.

They are all great! I had a hard time picking my favorite e-shot for our STDs too…I narrowed it down to 3 and sent a different one to everyone. Then I teased our family saying it was a contest and they had to “collect all 3 to win a prize!” :D

I think the top left is my favorite too! As a New Yorker, I guess I love city skylines. It’s hard to pick one though, all the pictures are cute :)

Top left is my favorite; but of your two top choices I’d say top right. But they are all fabulous so you can’t go wrong.

I like the bottom-right one… I love how the purple pops off the sky, and it’s almost like a thought bubble above your head, like you’re fantasizing about the wedding date already :)

They are all so cute, Gazelle. I think my fav is the top left (I’m a sucker for skylines) and the top right :)

I love the top left too, but I (like Miss Seal) love skylines so that is probably influencing my decision…!
