Mrs. Brooch's Picture
Mrs. Brooch, Arlington, VA Age and Occupation: 25, Writer/Editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Front Desk Manager Engagement Date: October 3, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Oxon Hill Manor About Me: I’m an indecisive girlie-girl with a motor mouth, can-do attitude, and knack for making others laugh. I dream of becoming a best selling novelist like Elizabeth Gilbert or Julie Powell (a girl can dream, right?), and love long road trips, a beautiful countryside, music, blogs, books, and all things vintage/thrift/antique/or homemade. I’m a Virgo, i.e. overly sensitive, emotional, and critical, and there’s no such thing as short and sweet in my world. I want to say and do it all. Mr. Brooch grounds me. I point where to go and he figures out the way. He’s a pragmatic fancy-pants who enjoys video games and movies. We both adore our mutt, Rocky, and spending time with our amazingly supportive family and friends. We’re planning a garden wedding with a formal reception with lots of whimsy and unique, Southern-inspired details.
About Mrs. Brooch

Brooch is Back and Married!

April 22nd, 2011 @ 6:22 pm by Mrs. Brooch

We did it y’all! We got hitched!

Brooch is Back and Married! : wedding arlington relationships 2011 04 2011-04

*Taken with Mr. B’s phone on our way home after the wedding*

The day was more magnificent than I could have ever imagined! The sun shined right before our ceremony and the temperature was perfect! NO RAIN! Yay! One of our guests said it was “not too hot, not too cold!” Everything went according to plan and there were a lot of wonderful, amazing, spectacular surprises! Just to name a few…

Mr. Brooch surprised everyone by serenading me with a solo right before our first kiss! AHH! Wait! I never told you he could sing? Well, he can and there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience! It was the most incredible moment of my life! He totally stole the show!

Mr. Brooch also surprised me with CHIAVARI CHAIRS! Wha! Wha! I married the right man! It was the one thing (other than videography) I really wanted (see my compulsive whining about it here, here, and here), but thought we couldn’t afford! When I saw the chairs, I literally screamed! I could not believe it! I turned to our planner, “What are these doing here? OMG! He got the chairs!” Yes, I was literally the bride that bragged about her chairs all day!

We had a lot of other wonderful surprises,  including a phenomenal speech by Mr. Brooch’s first cousin and best man. Seriously, it was the most heartfelt and heartwarming speech EVER!

Also, to our surprise, the dessert bar (which I realize I did not blog about at all—sorry!) was a HUGE hit! I wish I could have gotten a picture of the dessert bar at the end of the night because there was nothing but crumbs left!

We were also extremely blessed with an amazing turnout. We invited 120 guests (I never did an RSVP recap post either - oops!) and about 95 people came. That’s almost 75 percent! We were really, really happy. It didn’t feel as if anyone was “missing.” Our closest and dearest were definitely in attendance.

Best of all, we have received the most incredible feedback from our family and friends about the wedding. We’re heard (from more than one guest) it was THE. BEST. WEDDING. CEREMONY. THEY’D. EVER. BEEN. TO! Wow! What a compliment! *blushing*

Overall, the wedding truly helped me to realize how lucky we are to have the friends and family that we have. They are the ones that made our day perfect and I can’t wait to share more with you in detail! Thank you for all your kind comments and emails, too. The hive is chock full of cheerleaders! I’ve missed you all dearly!

With all of that being said, sit back, and get ready for a few last minute DIY adventures and then Brooch recaps! Any suggestions on a recap title? I’m leaning towards “Brooches Become One!” What do you think?

Love,

Mrs. B!
