Mrs. Seal's Picture
Mrs. Seal, San Francisco Age and Occupation: 25, Personal Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Sales and Support Specialist Engagement Date: December 12, 2009 Wedding Date: November 2011 Venue: Sts Peter and Paul Church/The Bently Reserve About Me: I am a goofy, wannabe crafty, well-intentioned Renaissance Woman (OK, perhaps "aimless wanderer" is a more aptly suited term for me, but hopefully you get the point)—basically I dabble in just about everything and pride myself in such. Without warning, I occasionally breakout into soulful improvised songs and interpretive dances and there's just no stopping me! As so many others before me, planning our wedding has unearthed a deep, intense passion for all things bridal and I secretly fear the day it will come to an end. Mr. Seal and I are quite the pair and life with him by my side is extremely rewarding—I am so thankful to have found him. Together we are planning a black-tie San Francisco affair for 250—light on the stuffiness and with lots of extra Seal-y flair.
About Mrs. Seal

Basically, hive…I want our wedding to be a major dance party. And when I say dance party, I want to emphasize the DANCE and the PARTY. (Not sure what that means, but I think you get the gist of it.)

Now, as you may recall, our plans are for a pretty formal event. However, I want to note that simply because we are hosting a “black-tie affair”  that’s not to indicate that it will be a “no-fun affair.”  I mean, just because people will be showing up in ties and gowns doesn’t dictate stuffiness or that we won’t be lettin’ loose on the dance floor.

Because, oh boy, will we be cuttin’ a rug on that dance floor.

Most of the people in my family are dancers—well, not professional dancers, but normal people who enjoy dancing, nonetheless. Mr. Seal’s family? The same. Oh, and don’t even get me started on our friends—I don’t know if it’s pure coincidence that we all love to boogie or if they’re our friends because they like to shake their tail-feathers like nobody’s business. Either way…we all win.

The music playlist will be vast and varied.

I’m thinking some Frank Sinatra (just to set the tone and feel of the evening), some Michael Jackson (duh! dancing!), definitely some salsa, and some of today’s best (and worst) pop and hip-hop hits.

I’ve got lots of dancing pictures but will refrain from posting them in an effort to protect the pride and dignity of the subjects (aka ME).

I will, however, give you your dancing Seal fix (cue the dancing seal at 1:08) with this fun video:

Video via YouTube

I’m hoping once our guests get a bit of liquid courage and see Mr. Seal and me dancing that they’ll all join us for the big party on the floor. These bees were successful in getting their guests to party and I intend to follow suit.

Do you foresee a lot of heiny-shakin’ at your wedding? Are you doing anything special to encourage your guests to boogie?

All my guests need will be some liquid courage and they would be raring to go! My FI is a great dancer, me, um, not so great. BUT I love to dance. You best believe I have my sneakers (shhhh, don’t tell anyone I’m changing into sneakers) set for DANCING the night away :)

Whenever I think of that song in ur title, I think of my Zumba class, lol! We are paying our dj extra to put up video screens that will either show the music video or people live dancing so I hope that gets people to dance and have fun!

Oh my, that video was AWESOME! And good luck getting your crowd to dance. If you’ve got the DJ for it, you’ll rock it, I’m sure.

One thing I noticed - if you’re planning on having a photobooth - it might take away from the dance party. We didn’t care but it sounds like you would!!

Yessss! Our plan is to guilt people into dancing or providing them with liquid courage! Whatever it takes to get the party moving and shaking!

This is something that totally stresses me out, especially since we’re having a smaller guest list. Can’t wait to see how you create a wildly successful dance par-tay!

I throw my hands up in the air sometimes, saying AYO!

We’re hoping the combination of an open bar + Mr. Tartlet and my tendency to totally put ourselves out there in awkward dance glory will encourage people to let loose. ;)

I want ours to be a dance party too! I aspire to get my grandparents on the dance floor like Mrs. Buttons did!

Our top 3 in our wedding budget included:
1. good food (nobody’s heading to MickyD’s after)
2. all night open bar (liquid courage all night long)
3. A fantastic, wild & crazy DJ. He wasn’t cheap, but he can definitely get a party started and has lots of fun games, lights, music, etc.

I hope all in all my budget is going to good stuff and people have an epic time. :)

You must have forgotten the most important song. Well, three important songs.
What’s love got to do with it?
I saw the sign.
