While we were greeting our guests at the Church time flew by and all of a sudden it was time to line up for our processional. Mr P’s brother M headed into the church to play trumpet. M had arranged for a member of the Army band based in WA to play our wedding, but an email mix up left us trumpeter-less. The plan all along was to have M play trumpet for our recessional. At the last minute he stepped up and did double duty, standing as a groomsman and playing trumpet for the processional, mass parts, and recessional. This was perhaps the best gift he could have given us—he is an amazingly talented musician and Mr P loves to listen to him play.

We were also blessed to have the equally talented Dr Carlene Brown accompany him on organ and piano.

The processional began with Trumpet Voluntary by Jeremiah Clarke.

Mr Pretzel made his way to the front where three of his groomsmen joined him (M was playing trumpet)

Papa Pretzel and I crept closer to the door as my bridesmaids made their way down the aisle. Let me introduce my girls:

SIL S married Mr P’s brother/best man just two months earlier. She started dating her husband the time I started dating Mr P, and we bonded on a week-long vacation with Mr P’s family.

Mr P’s sister, M had just had a baby two months earlier, believe it or not!

Bridesmaid H is my Seattle partner in crime and knitting buddy.

Bridesmaid R and I have been friends since the first day of college orientation.

My niece “The girl.” At age 9 I thought she was too old to be a flower girl. She wins chess tournaments for goodness sake! The Jr Bridesmaid role was perfect for her.

SIL/Matron of Honor Tig has known me over half my life. She and my brother got married when I was 18 and has been like the sister I never had.

What a colorful bunch! The music changed to Jeremiah Clarke’s Trumpet Tune and that was Papa Pretzel’s cue.

Papa P and I paused as we rounded the corner. It was amazing to see all of our guests there.

Thank goodness our aisle was short. I couldn’t wait to meet Mr P on the other end.

Papa Pretzel and I came to a stop at the first pew. I am sure I was grinning like a fool at my husband-to-be.

Mr P shook Papa P’s hand before taking my hand and leading me up to the altar.
