Mrs. Hyena's Picture
Mrs. Hyena, College Station, TX Age and Occupation: 23, Marketing Specialist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Aerospace Engineering Grad Student Engagement Date: January 8, 2010 Wedding Date: May 2011 Venue: Downtown 202 About Me: I'm a Texas girl who met my future hubby in high school, then headed up to Oklahoma for a college education (BOOMER SOONER!) before moving back to the Lone Star State to be with him. I love reading and recycling, Photoshop and reality TV, making lame jokes and then laughing at them, quoting movies, and Mr. Hyena most of all. I'm perpetually early and I like to get things accomplished. When my cat meows at me, I meow back. We're planning a laid-back, unintentionally DIY wedding with a cocktail-party vibe, and can't wait to celebrate our nuptials with our nearest and dearest!
About Mrs. Hyena

Extravaganza!

April 27th, 2011 @ 12:05 pm by Mrs. Hyena

Back in November, three of my bridesmaids and I flew out to Las Vegas for my bachelorette extravaganza and some much-needed vacation time!

Lest you think I’ve forgotten, I knew the wedding was still six months away. But with bridesmaids literally all over the world, I’ll take ’em when I can get ’em! We were in Vegas for five days, but I’m only going to talk about the bachelorette night here because you need to go visit for yourself. It’s amazing. Go now. Bring me back some souvenirs.

This post is not entirely safe for work, but I did try to keep it tame. (What? My family reads this!) Onward!

My girls are pretty much the best ever. They know I’m not really the go-out-get-drunk-party-all-night type, so they made plans for a fun, very Miss Hyena evening out on the Vegas strip!

But first things first! We got to stay in this awesome timeshare that had a full kitchen, so pretty much the minute she got there, A made cookies! They were meant to be…inappropriately shaped, but they kind of all melted together in the oven. They were delicious anyway. We decorated them inappropriately, too.

Next, I was outfitted with a blingy light-up “Bride” crown and sash, and some beads!

The girls gifted me with some hilarious bachelorette-style gifts, then we got all dolled up and ready to hit the town!

Beautiful bridesmaids A, L, and Hyena Sis. And me!

We went to dinner in Excalibur.

After dinner, they told me they arranged a scavenger hunt! We didn’t finish these all that night, so we carried on for the rest of the week. Just a few of the things on the list:

1. Something older than (or representative of something older than) age 50.

2. Something younger than (or representative of something younger than) age 20.

3. Something you’d never want to borrow.

4. Something blue.

I don’t think we actually noted anything for this one. We’ll say “blue” as in a lot of people didn’t realize it was a bachelorette and kept telling me happy birthday. Sad.

5. Take a picture with a celebrity.

That’s right, I’ve got Elvis AND Gandalf!

6. Take a picture with a random hot guy.

I think this Storm Trooper counts. He saw the crown and said, “Getting married? Yeah! Let’s make him jealous!” It was pretty hilarious. Otherwise we didn’t come across any hot guys that we could have gotten a picture with. We did come across a creepo that kept making inappropriate comments to me and hitting on Hyena Sis at one of the casinos, though.

7. Find the “classiest” wedding chapel.

All-you-can-eat sushi AND barbecue?? Sign us up!

8. Find the most phallic thing you can.

Who would have thought it would be the Eiffel Tower?

9. Take a picture of—or purchase—the biggest drink you see.

It was an awesome night, and I’m so glad I got to spend it with a few of my best friends!

@Miss Seal: Oh, I’m sure you will. There’s so much to do there!
@misscoffee: HA! Probably. :)
@Mrs. Meerkat: Seriously. If Mr. H had been with us, that might have convinced him to elope! Buuut then I wouldn’t have gotten to be a blogger. ;)
@stephbonthego: Haha, thanks!

I think BBQ and sushi is kind of a gross combo to begin with, but when combined with a wedding chapel… well… words escape me.

@Jennifer: I can’t remember the exact street or location, but we were walking north toward Circus Circus, and the Riviera was to our right. It was somewhere along that path.
