From Japan with Love

April 27th, 2011 @ 11:42 am by Mrs. Pain au Chocolat

I love getting things in the mail. Do you remember how ridiculously excited I got over washi tape? Nothing could top that…except for receiving washi tape in the mail!

I chose to order my washi tape from an Etsy seller in Japan. UGUiSU had the colors I needed at a great price AND I wanted to show support for the Japanese people, even if it was in a small way.

Sealed with washi tape!

Oh, oh! What’s inside?

My very own set of pastel rolls!

Here are the colors we’re thinking of using to indicate the three meal choices, sitting on top of the paper stock we’ll use for the escort cards. The washi tape is not fully opaque, so layering will create additional colors within the grouping. We’re hoping this is an aesthetically pleasing way to help the caterer serve the correct meals to our guests.

Hive, do you have any creative ideas for how we should arrange the washi tape on the card (stripes, plaid, criss-cross)? Should I do a demo and put it to a vote?

Stripes would be so cute!! Unless you want to show off the layering effect, then I choose plaid! Demo for sure! (assuming you have plenty of tape) I’m super excited about this.

I love washi tape. I too just ordered off of Etsy to use for the wedding. I would love to see some demos from you. Sorry I have no ideas on how to use them, I usually just steal…sorry, borrow ideas from the hive ;)

Oh washi tape, how I love thee. I’m thinking stripes, but I’ll echo the sentiments of everyone else and call for a demo! :)

Lovely color choices! I would also suggest diagonal lines that occasionally intersect. Plaid would require weaving the tape, which would drive me batty after the first 20.

@oatmealpie: You are so right about the plaid. I may have tried it when playing with the transparency of the washi tape and NO way was I doing that for 100 cards. I am a bride but I am not nuts.
@Miss Pony: oh, do not fear — there is plenty of tape for a demo! I’ll get it on this in the next few days so the hive can weigh in.
@Miss Tartlet: Demo request for tone-on-tone criss cross received!
@Miss Candy Apple, @Miss Pony & @Miss Seal: Stripes, got it!
