I’m not sure how to go about recapping our wedding while we wait on professional pictures, but there are a couple of myths I realized when I got married that I want to share with you. The first and probably most profound refers to that ever-present discussion about Facebook pictures.
Myth: Unprofessional wedding pictures posted by family and friends on Facebook are going to suck.
Fact: You are going to LOVE the pictures your friends and family post on Facebook!
I’m not saying all the pictures of you on your wedding day that go up on Facebook are going to be flattering, but in the end, I would bet money you’ll happily accept a few bad apples for the opportunity to see a few good ones! This is one of my favorites posted by my Aunt Lorraine:

Photography is one of Lorraine’s hobbies so I wasn’t surprised to see a lot of good shots from her. I was, however, surprised to find there were pictures of me (just me) that I really, really liked! Every bride wants to feel beautiful on her wedding day; but what they don’t tell you is that the bride wants to feel beautiful after her wedding day and in all the pictures, too! This photo lived up to those wants! Thanks, Lorraine!
Just like us, you may find that just as badly as you want to see pictures after the wedding, your family and friends want to share them! We got an overwhelming numbers of tags from my maid of honor, aunt, cousins, and friends the very. next. day. Contrary to my initial beliefs, this delighted us! We wanted to see something, anything, and we were especially excited when we realized our friends were such amazing amateur photographers! How gorgeous is this picture my cousin Paul took?

Aww. My heart skips a beat when I see those chairs. Did you hear? Mr. Brooch surprised me with them. More on that later. <3
So the very first morning the Brooches were in Costa Rica, they sat side by side at the clubhouse of their resort and flipped through the many pages of Facebook reminiscing about the wonderful day that had passed them by so quickly.
We even turned up the volume at one point and watched our pronouncement as husband and wife, Mr. Brooch’s serenade, and our first kiss. Yes! Our friends got video footage (I’m saving those for a different post)! We oohed, ahhed, and relived each special detail and loving guest at a time. How could we not with pictures as cute as this popping up? Thanks Stepmama Brooch!

TOO ADORABLE, right? Well, there’s hundreds more where this one came from, thanks to our family and friends and they are all available via Facebook.
It was wonderful to read all the comments swirling around, too! It was so fun to watch our family and friends gab about our special day, and read that they had a wonderful time; the bride was beautiful; the groom’s song was the highlight; and that our venue wowed them!
It. was. so. gratifying.
Admittedly, I thought I was going to want to hide under a rock when our wedding pictures appeared on Facebook, but I did the exact opposite! We started profusely thanking the friends that posted photos, tagging ourselves, and asking for more! Just like Mrs. Barrettes, I ate my words! I couldn’t have been more wrong about the whole thing.
Oh! Mr. Brooch was loving the pictures, too! This was one of his favorites! There’s a funny story about this picture and him shaking my father’s hand that I will get to later. I love how everyone has a huge smile in this shot!
