About Mrs. Pony

Because alliteration makes everything better, even royal weddings!

I should preface this by saying my knowledge of the British monarchy is pathetic. And I totally researched the crap out of royal wedding traditions before I started writing my predictions (yet my knowledge is still severely lacking).

Kate’s Style

Certainly the most anticipated part of the day, Kate is going to keep her look elegant and sophisticated. I suspect she will wear a strapless ball gown with a fitted bodice. To keep within the modesty expectations at Westminster Abbey, she will also wear a beautiful 3/4 sleeve lace bolero that she can remove when she wants to bust a move at the after party (which she will do because she is awesome). The embellishment will be minimal, but it will feature a select few details to make her gown unique and beautiful.

I’m thinking something along these lines (but with more fine details):

Even with the crown jewels are her disposal, Kate will opt for reserved jewels, picking pieces that are timeless and elegant. I see her paying tribute to Diana by wearing some of her iconic pieces (I’m thinking the pearls), but she will skip the tiara in favor or a more understated and modern look.

Kate is going to showcase her beautiful locks with a half up/half down do. It will be loosely curled and styled to perfection in a way that my hair can only dream about at night. In it, she will don an amazing hair flower for an unexpected twist. She will also manage to incorporate a cathedral length veil that will measure in at a respectable 15 feet. Long enough to make a statement without rivaling the grandness of Diana’s veil.

{My hair is envious}

Kate’s shoes will be modern and fabulous. I’m thinking she will wear a lovely royal blue pair as a modern touch to liven up her mostly traditional look.

Something like these would be brilliant:

The Theme

Contrary to the opulence and grandeur that marked Charles and Diana’s nuptials, William and Kate’s wedding will focus on classic, elegant touches without going over the top. Everything selected will have a British connection, including the flowers, food, and designers as a nod to Great Britain’s national pride and to drum up some local business for those brides wanting to channel their inner Kate Middleton on their own wedding day.

Kate’s maid of honor and sister will be striking in a brilliant royal blue gown, which I suspect will be the color of the day, both as a nod to Kate/Diana’s sapphire engagement ring and Kate’s love of jewel tones (I feel like a KM stalker now). This slinky one shoulder number is full of elegance and style worthy of such a regal event.

The other ’bridesmaids’ are children (according to my research), who will wear the an ivory dress similar to Kate’s. Because it is too cute to be considered creepy…right?

Kate’s bouquet will be an all white nosegay, filled with English roses, peonies (because everyone loves them), and the traditional sprig of myrtle from Queen Victoria’s plant.

The Details

People did not wait outside/wake up at 3 in the morning to NOT see a show, so this isn’t going to be a typical ceremony. The processional alone will be at least an hour. The ceremony will be 52 minutes, long enough to appease the throngs of people glued to the tube, but not so long that those across the pond sleep (or fast forward) through it.

I have no clue what the first dance song will be. It will probably be something meaningful to Will and Kate, but I’d love for it to be something modern and fun since they seem like a fun couple.

{Kate and Will—having more fun than Miss Pony}

I’ve read that the cake will be a multi-tiered confection with flower decorations (I can’t find or remember where I read that though, so I could be making it up). Since there are supposed to be something like eight thousand people attending the wedding (I might have made that number up too), I think this cake is going to be a monster weighing in at a whopping seven tiers.

The cake will include sugar English roses, again tying in the English theme and Kate’s bouquet. I think the cake will also include several decorative elements that resemble Kate’s gown, such as lace and embellishments.

What are your predictions for the royal wedding? Are you as insanely jealous of Kate’s hair as I am?

I, too, love her hair, and I, too, have no knowledge of the royals. My predictions, therefore, are just me spewing random guesses. That picture of them on the tubes is awesome! :)

All these dress predictions get better & better!!

I heard somewhere that they’re incorporating the four? (six? can’t remember) traditional English/Irish/Wales/Scottish flowers in both her bouquet and the cake.

ALSO. The trees! Have you heard they’re lining the aisle at Westminster Abbey with six English field maples and two hornbeams, which are up to 20ft tall!!! I’m so surprised, I would think that would be a place to save a bit of money, considering they’re considered ‘frugal’ and all….. Westminster Abbey does NOT need any additional decorations!

PS: I want her hair. Like omgrightthissecondomgNOW.

Lol. Is it weird that I read your post with a British accent? Your predictions sound so confident and official–like a royal wedding BBC special! Pony for the win!

@TheFutureMcBride: Me too! I want her secret.
@Miss Candy Apple: I was going to go all random, but I got to into it I guess.
@bebefly: I heard that about the trees! My guess is someone really wanted to get married outside and this is their (expensive) way to make it happen.
@tocarat: She’s got to be herself somehow and I thought a hair flower would be right up her alley.
@Miss Seal: HA! I love it! Totally reading the rest of the predictions with a British accent! Seal=awesome!

I think your dress prediction is the best one yet. Her sister can’t wear that dress because of the exposed shoulder, I think Pippa will match the little bridsmaids in color and I think Kate will wear white not ivory. I can’t wait to see it, hurry Friday!!!

Kate will thrill us all, for sure, with her natural beauty and grace and independent spirit. That’s what makes a fabulous princess, after all.

Side note to Robyn above…that’s my name, too…glad to have you here.
