Mrs. Seal's Picture
Mrs. Seal, San Francisco Age and Occupation: 25, Personal Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Sales and Support Specialist Engagement Date: December 12, 2009 Wedding Date: November 2011 Venue: Sts Peter and Paul Church/The Bently Reserve About Me: I am a goofy, wannabe crafty, well-intentioned Renaissance Woman (OK, perhaps "aimless wanderer" is a more aptly suited term for me, but hopefully you get the point)—basically I dabble in just about everything and pride myself in such. Without warning, I occasionally breakout into soulful improvised songs and interpretive dances and there's just no stopping me! As so many others before me, planning our wedding has unearthed a deep, intense passion for all things bridal and I secretly fear the day it will come to an end. Mr. Seal and I are quite the pair and life with him by my side is extremely rewarding—I am so thankful to have found him. Together we are planning a black-tie San Francisco affair for 250—light on the stuffiness and with lots of extra Seal-y flair.
About Mrs. Seal

Sleep? Who needs it?! Especially when there’s a Royal Wedding goin’ on. Bear with me, kids. I’m running off of very little rest, but I’m a dedicated wedding fan and I am reporting for blog-duty.

OK, I’m sure you all are getting pretty tired of hearing about this wedding and I swear this will be my last post dedicated to it, BUT I think it’s important to take a moment to realize how it will, inevitably, affect weddings to come.

For example, amidst my tears upon seeing this beautiful scene:

I received the following hilarious text message from Brother Seal:

“You should have trees instead of floral arrangements. Flowers are for paupers.”

While I surely don’t actually think “flowers are for paupers”, I can’t help but wonder how many calls churches are getting right now asking about their “indoor tree policy”.

And how AMAZING did Pippa Middleton and the little bridesmaids look in (gasp!) WHITE?

How many brides are now reconsidering their bridesmaids dresses and the mainstream tradition that only the bride should wear white?

Oh, and let’s not forget THE dress. The dress that single-single-handedlysingle-handedly made my already-purchased strapless (spoiler!) wedding gown “so last year”. I COULD HAVE USED SOME SLEEVES, TOO!

Anyway, I already have delusions of grandeur for my own wedding day, so I don’t see my wedding style changing much!

What about you guys? Do you think the Royal Wedding will affect your wedding vision? Are you absolutely tired of hearing about this wedding already?

I think the royal wedding was beautiful..I was starting to feel overwhelmed with all the news around it, but I was so happy I stayed up all night watching and blogging about it. I LOVED the bridesmaids in white…awesome!

Haha - you should have seen Mr. Tartlet’s face when I went “oooooo–TREES!” Nothing will change here, though. :)

I was thinking that I would love to wear her dress without the sleeves (since my wedding will be in the middle of summer). So, I had to pull out a picture of me in my already purchased wedding dress to remind myself how much I loved my dress. :)

Lol. I dunno what happened on that “single-handedly” line—that’s what no sleep will do to ya I guess! Heheh.

@katrina: Agreed! Th all-nighter was a blast :D

@Miss Tartlet: Hehe! TREES. I still can’t get over it. IN THE CHURCH.

I had trees. Not living, mind you, but trees nonetheless. No biggie ;)

@linguo42: Ooooh, pretty!

And lol, I guess I should clarify my amazement—”20-FOOT HIGH TREES!? IN THE CHURCH?!” ;)

I love the dress! I hope designers take the simplicity as inspiration and get away with the awful shiny beaded dresses. Dresses can be gorgeous without anything shiny covering them!

I’d wear the dress with a different waistline (I’m not a stick) for sure! But no sleeves. My mom had lace sleeves in the 80s….

You can easily turn that strapless gown into a Kate knock-off by adding a long-sleeved lace bolero!

My wedding was just two weeks ago, and it already feels so last year! Yes, sleeves are the way to go now! But hey, look at it this way, this just means that our dresses are already vintage. Our children will look at our naked shoulders and think of them as we do of puffy shoulders…

I start wedding dress shopping in 4 months, and I have been hoping and praying that Kate would wear sleeves and make them fashionable again. Her dress was gorgeous, and she was radiant, and I wish them both the best of luck on their marriage.

I can imagine Kate sighing to her wedding planner: “I always wanted an outdoor wedding, amongst the trees… I guess that’s not in the cards for me, marrying a royal and all.” And then her wedding planner coming up with a brilliant idea… can’t wait to see it in the TV movie! :)

I love all three of these royal wedding details! I loved lace and sleeved dresses, white/ivory bridesmaids, and the trees?! They were so perfect!

I thought the trees lining the aisle were gorgeous! I also never thought I could like a dress with sleeves, but Catherine’s dress was beautiful and absolutely perfect for her. I just loved seeing their facial expressions, they both looked so happy and excited, which is what it’s really about.

Kate’s outfit was simple, beautiful and classic. I can only hope to look a fraction as lovely.

I don’t really want to hear more about the wedding because the press is so ridiculous, but I could look at more pictures despite having watched it all!

My not-as-firm-as-they-should-be-but-don’t-care-enough-to-make-them-tighter arms really wish the royal wedding would have been a few months ago, so I could wear sleeves. Totally feel like my strapless dress instantly became dated, but guess what? It’s still the best dang last season dress I’ve ever seen!

While I understand all the commotion, I am definately tired of hearing about it already I have to admit. Their wedding style will not affect mine, as I have my own vision. I still have lots of decisions to make as my wedding is a year away still, but I am not going to be purchasing trees anytime soon :)

I’m no where NEAR tired of hearing about this wedding… it was amazing!

The trees were so wonderful. They just make me smile!

And Kate: the dress, the veil, and her whole attitude… so majestic yet true to herself. Simply beautiful!

Nope, I’m still going with the fantasy theme we envisioned originally.

Besides, fantasy is SOOO much more fun than reality ;)
