How Sweet!

April 29th, 2011 @ 2:46 pm by Mrs. Crepe

I had just finished talking up our amazing photographers and that same day, a care package arrived with a sweet note reminding Mr. Crepe and I to take a night off of wedding planning and just relax. They included a couple of fun DVDs (Italian job and Say Anything, both of which I love), candy and popcorn! Since the Mr. and I are currently long distance, I helped myself to some…okay, all the candy.

This reminded me of something that I felt was important to mention but forgot to in my last post.

I know that right now, the economy is making everyone a little nervous and everyone is looking for the best deal. But there’s a fine line between going out to get the most for your money and being downright rude to vendors. With all the stress that surrounds this time, we might forget that the vendors are really, just people who want to do the best job they can…especially when you’re working with someone who runs their own business.

Early in the planning process, I happened across this article that summed this idea up perfectly: Be Kind to Your Wedding Vendors. It reminded me to reach out to my photographers when I was in town for a little coffee meet up—even though my trip was packed full of wedding planning, it was important to spend some quality time with them. Especially since I think they are super cool people that I like talking to! I love the idea that when Phil and Mindy show up to our wedding, I won’t just see them as our photographers but they’ll also be friends who are sharing this pivotal moment with Mr. Crepe and me.

So many of us have friends who are also vendors but did anyone else have vendors who became your friends?

Spending time with your vendors is such good advice and is something I haven’t really done yet. Gonna try to change that soon.

I definitely think spending time with vendors makes a difference in service and comfort, although I’m much more of an email girl myself.
Your photographers are so sweet to send you a care package!

A wedding is a highly emotional event, so if you can connect with the people working with you and feel that it’s more than a business transaction it does make it much more enjoyable!

I totally agree, although it has been tough with planning the wedding from across the country!! But you are completely right - it is good for us to let them know that they are appreciated (and vice versa too, in my opinion! ;) ha).

That is so so so sweet of them! And you’re absolutely right, it’s important to remember to take time out for the people who are helping to make our wedding day so special :)

What a sweet gesture from your photographers. :) We’ve been trying to spend some time in the weeks leading up to the wedding getting to know our vendors better, and making sure they feel at home at the event. They’re like a family in their own right to us!

I agree, especially with the vendors who are going to be with you for the majority of your wedding day.

So smart and great advice to me in the planning process! I also think it’s great advice to vendors - not that all of them should send a care package like this one, but little gestures really do matter to us.

I totally agree. I think those little extra moments pre-wedding help everyone’s stress level become more manageable for the big day.

I haven’t been on WB in forever- since we got married 9 months ago. But I’m so happy to see that you’re using Phindy. We’re in the Nashville area too. My girlfriend, Tami/Brent, used Phindy for their May 2010 wedding and loved them!
