Make Me Up

May 3rd, 2011 @ 3:57 pm by Ms. Sloth

If you recall, my first makeup trial just didn’t do it for me.

My DIY trial looked better, and I liked having an alternative to fall back on, but I didn’t think it was dramatic enough, and I decided that I’d rather leave my face to the professionals.

Luckily for me, Bridesmaid K works with a woman who does professional makeup as a side business. She came to my home a few weeks ago (when I was sick as a dog) and worked her magic. Or at least her semi-magic. She said that, for my wedding day, she’d go full-on with primers, but she didn’t do that for the trial. She also said that she usually does just one eye at first, and only does the second one if the bride requests changes. And this was fine with me, because all I wanted to do was go take a nap on the couch.

I told her I wanted to look fresh, but dramatic, but not too dramatic for a garden wedding in late afternoon. Whatever the eff that means. But she managed to nail it!

Here is me, before:

And here is me, after. Again, I was feeling crappy, so please excuse my miserable facial expressions and just focus on the makeup.

Make Me Up : wedding makeup philadelphia trial Makeupa Photobucket

What? The makeup-free eye is distracting? Let me cover that up for you.

Sorry, I just wanted any excuse to Photoshop a pirate eye patch onto my photo.

Anyhoo, I was a lot happier with the makeup than I look in the photos. It’s perfect! And that’s one more thing to check off the list!

How many makeup trials did you have before you were happy?

You’re freaking gorgeous. Just FYI.

I ended up doing my own make-up because my make-up artist bailed on me the week before the wedding. And she did not to tell me. I found out via facebook that she opted to vacation in Vegas instead.

Looks great! maybe I should borrow your phrasing “fresh, but dramatic, but not too dramatic for a garden wedding in late afternoon” when I go for my trial, lol.

She really did nail it, your makeup looks perfect. The photoshopped eyepatch just takes it to a whole new level.

Hahahaha can you please wear an eyepatch for your reception??

But your makeup looks great — you can tell you’re “done up” but it’s not over-the-top-want-to-assault-you-with-a-makeup-removing-wipe done up.

I think you should rock the pirate patch for the wedding. It totally fits in with the garden wedding.

Wow, she really did nail it! You look like the red carpet version of you. Perfectly elegant and so chic. I had four trials with my very talented and awesome friend. I never really did like any look until the very big day. I think I needed the hair to go with it. By then, I was extremely happy with my makeup.
