Mrs. Earrings's Picture
Mrs. Earrings, Fresno, CA/ Nelson, New Zealand Age and Occupation: 20, Student, Wannabe Writer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 19, Photography Student Engagement Date: February 14, 2010 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Gardens of the World About Me: I'm a girl from down under who grew up in Indonesia and I'm marrying a California boy. I'm addicted to all things sweet, have never met a chocolate silk pie than can get the better of me, and have dreams of one day being a fulltime novelist. I go weak in the knees for lace, tea cups, and a beautifully crafted sentence. When I get excited about something (whether it is historical linguistics or the Beatles) I tend to go overboard in research, and planning this wedding is no different. Mr. Earrings is my high school sweetheart, my best friend, and somehow we combine all our quirks into one big happy mess.

You’ve seen our Tea and Cupcake Hour details, now I want to share the rest of our reception details with you. My favourite comment from guests about the details?: “It’s like a treasure hunt!”

Our ceremony musician, Jim Martin, played throughout the Tea and Cupcake hour, and into the beginning of the reception before we switched over to the iPod for the rest of the evening.

Unfortunately, the two photos above are the best ones I have of the card table and favors. The “Chocolate Pudding for Two” favors were a huge hit with guests anyway, and I got many notes from them after the wedding saying how much people enjoyed making and eating their puddings.

And on the subject of our Blurb guestbook that we made using our engagement photos—I’m so glad we did this! We read the notes guests wrote on our flight to Auckland from Nelson the next day and it was so much fun.

This photo makes me laugh ’cause it looks like we are chasing each other around the tree. We weren’t. Really. Anyway, here you can see one of the signs we painted, plus more DIY fabric bunting

Old-fashioned sodas and punch were the beverages of choice after the tea was finished. Also in this photo is Nina- our friend who volunteered to be a sort of DOC to make sure people wouldn’t bug me with questions on the day. Thanks Nina!

After dinner, everyone indulged in cheesecake for dessert (guest photo).

Apparently right after this photo was taken, one of the cheesecakes was accidentally toppled by a guest! What was left was delicious though :)

Our sweetheart table (guest photo)

Mr E and I didn’t plan on having a guest table, but because of how things worked out with the seating at the other VIP tables, it was just simple (and more relaxing!) to have a table to ourselves.

Mr E hung the “Love” bunting I made in front of our table during the morning set-up. Great idea Mr E!

It isn’t so much a detail as such, but I would be remiss if I didn’t include a couple of photos of the setting of our reception. The breeze in the trees, the pond, all the flowers- they created the perfect atmosphere for an English garden picnic wedding.

Mrs. Earrings I say this into response to all your recap posts, but I am going to say it again. I am so totally in love with your wedding. It is absolutely perfect in every way possible. This is by far my favorite wedding ever, I have read my share of wedding blogs and magazines, but nothing compares to this one. All the litttle details are just so perfect.
