We didn’t have much time for photos of Mr. Cardigan and me because we were insistent on not having a first look.
I definitely don’t regret that decision, and even though we only had about 20 minutes to take photos after the ceremony, it was one of my favorite parts of the day.

It was the only part of the day that we were totally alone (except for our photographer) and it was so nice to have a few minutes to be with my new husband and bask in the glow of being married.

We snuggled, kissed, and laughed. A lot. It was wonderful.

I can’t recommend this enough. If you have a few minutes to spare immediately after your ceremony for just you and your partner to be together, DO IT. It’s totally worth missing out on a few minutes of the cocktail hour.

I also took this opportunity to flip my rings around—I had worn my engagement ring for the ceremony, so he had put my wedding band on top of it. I was excited to have them in the right position, so I was eager to fix it.

About 15 minutes into our little photo session we noticed it was getting rapidly darker outside, and we knew it was almost time to go back in.

And almost as soon as it had started, our moment alone was over.
We headed back inside and began greeting our guests—it was time to party!
