Mrs. Snow Cone's Picture
Mrs. Snow Cone, Pittsburgh/Johnstown, PA Age and Occupation: 23, Public Health Graduate Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Engineer Engagement Date: April 9, 2010 Wedding Date: August 2011 Venue: OMOS Church ceremony/Sunnehanna Country Club reception About Me: I’m one of the lucky ones---I met my future husband at the ripe old age of 13, started dating him as a mature woman of 15, and have been enjoying the ride ever since. Here we are, 8 years later, living in Pittsburgh, planning a "homestination" wedding in the place our school romance began---Johnstown, PA. I thrive on talking a mile a minute, eating my weight in chocolate, and internet shopping. I love a lengthy to-do list almost as much as I love a healthy amount of chaos in my life. Mr. Snow Cone and I watch countless episodes of Friends and The West Wing on repeat, root for rival college sports teams, and make each other laugh each and every day. We’re putting together a small-town wedding with a big personality and a classically modern (or modernly classic?) look for 250 of our closest family and friends. It’s been 8+ years in the making, and sometimes I still can’t believe I’m finally getting to marry my high school sweetheart!
About Mrs. Snow Cone

Last time I talked about BM dresses, I was about 30 seconds from having a bridal meltdown. I had narrowed my choices down to three contenders, and then I went in circles comparing the three, hoping one would jump out at me. And, truthfully, one did. The only problem was that the following day, a different one would be the jumper. And then the third one would take a turn. Honestly, each of the final three dresses had a day to revel in being “the one.” Thankfully, I had scheduled a meeting with our florist (more to come on that!) who needed a fabric swatch to coordinate colors, so I had an official deadline for this dreaded decision.

Finally, when push came to shove, I went with my gut, my heart, my whatever. I don’t know what motivated me, but I decided and that’s all that matters. My seven lovely ladies will be donning the Belsoie L3009 in Bordeaux, as seen here:

This dress caught my eye shortly after the first failed shopping extravaganza. When I submitted it for others’ approval, the only even remotely negative thing I heard about it was the length; since we’re getting married in August, some of the gals weren’t too keen on being a puddle of sweat all in the name of extra formality. I reached into the blogosphere for some help, contacting WB’s own Mrs. Jellyfish, who had originally sparked my love affair with these BM dresses. She confirmed that her ‘maids were a bit on the warm side in their long dresses, but she also mentioned that one of her friends had a Belsoie chiffon dress in knee length and it was still a stunner, despite the abbreviated hemline. That message sealed the deal. We were going with the L3009, but in knee length.

I can’t even begin to tell you what a relief this decision is. No more scouring dress websites. No more analyzing low-quality photos of myself in oversized sample dresses. No more making mental lists of pros and cons. No more wondering if the 1,000 closest people to me would approve of the decision. It. was. done. I got the dress I wanted, plus I met Mr. Snow Cone’s request for short dresses, plus I met my mom’s request for strapped dresses, plus I managed to get a dress that was met with positive feedback from all my ‘maids (or, at least, fake positive feedback…regardless, I’m taking it!). I am one happy bride with one less detail to plan.

How did you finally decide on a BM dress? Or, on a more cathartic note, what was your biggest planning relief?

I’m sure your maids will appreciate the short length. I wore a floor length BM dress for a wedding last August and it was balls hot. The other BMs and I cut out (like took scissors to our dresses) the lining to our dresses half way through the reception!

Anyways, good choice all around!

I did the opposite and opted for the long gown in August. The long just looked that much more elegant! But these are going to look darling short :)

That looks almost exactly like our BM dresses :) Amsale silk chiffon, empire waist, same straps…. They are gorgeous, and we got many compliments on them! Love :)

Sooo Pretty! I am doing L3001 in bordeaux (similar style but one shoulder-and I’m in October so it will be long) It took forever for me to decide, but like you, I had to finally just stop taking opinions and settle on them myself :) My mom owns a bridal shop and says the belsoie dresses are some of the prettiest bridesmaids out there!

So purty, SC! Love the dresses. And you’re right; the shorter length will definitely be better in the summer. Beautiful color, too.

Congrats on picking a dress! My biggest planning relief came after we found a caterer, it took us forever to find one that would work with our budget and would serve the food we wanted!

Mrs. Snow Cone, do you have pictures of the bridesmaids from the day of the wedding? I am thinking about this dress (in the long length) and color for my bridesmaids so it would be great to see how it actually looks in pictures.

Thanks!

@Danielle: Danielle, I’d be happy to send you a photo! I’m still typing up the loose ends on my recaps, so I can’t guarantee the photos will be up on the blog in a timely manner. PM me an email address and I’ll send you a photo right away! They looked great in person and in photos :)

(Also, be sure to check out Mrs. Jellyfish’s post I linked to, as it shows the dresses in a different color in the full-length!)
