How Now Moo Cow?

May 4th, 2011 @ 12:06 pm by Ms. Gazelle

I totally fell for mini Moo cards. I blame Mrs. Pretzel’s invitation suite for that one.

I thought this might be a great way to incorporate our engagement photos into our invitation suite. In case you have never ordered Moo cards, here is the dealio. You can use up to 100 different pictures for the front of the card, but the same design will be printed on the back of each card. Perfect for showing off engagement photos on the front, yet displaying helpful information on the back of each card.

The online software is so easy to use, and it shows you the bleed (or non-safe) area for the front of the card. For the back, I chose to create my own design using their template as a guide:

I was so excited when these little guys arrived in the mail. Want to see?

We chose to go with eight different engagement photos:

And then put a link to our website on the back of our cards:

I did make one mistake, though. The way our pictures on the front worked out meant that I would punch a hole on the left side of the card. On the back that meant punching a hole through our picture. In hindsight, I would have moved our picture to the left on the back of the card.

Speaking of punching…

…is that a heart-shaped punch I spy?

As for the cards themselves, the paper is thick and of fantastic quality. Shipping to Canada was reasonable, and the turnaround time on my order was faster than initially promised.

Are you bombarding your guests with your engagement pictures like we are? If so, how are you doing it?

I love the mini moo card! I just can’t think of what I want to use them for since invites have already gone out. We bombarded our guests with our engagement pics too on our STDs.

I also think it would be kinda a neat way to send photos out to everyone… maybe nifty little keepsakes for everyone who can’t make it…. (bookmarks anyone? ;) )

I think the moo card would be a cute idea for photoshare cards, if you were going to do something like that, with the engagement picture on the front and photoshare website/password on the back.

I want Moo cards soooo badly. But I’m not sure we have the appropriate use for them. I might make them just for funsies and hand them out to random people.

I used them too!!!!!!!!! I HEART THEM!! I am trying to come up with more ways to use them - I actually made 100 pictures for each person’s name and had them printed that way. So the front of each is a picture (fancy font w/ fun background) saved as a jpg. but it’s the person’s name. On the back of all of them I just wrote “Thanks for celebrating with us!”

I had never heard of these before! OMG I love them! I’ve been on the website playing with designs already…and they have a UK version too. Great post Miss Gazelle, and your cards are so sweet.

Does anyone have a discount code for Moo cards? I’m a Vista Print fan (read “free stuff”) so $50 for 60 postcards is a lot in my little world!

I love this idea and am going to use them in our invitations. For some reason though I can’t figure out how to put one of our pictures on the side with the text as well. Any help would be appreciated!! Thank you! :)
