Good news—I’m no longer over it like I was a couple of weeks ago.
Now that we’re just a week-and-a-half away (oh em gee!) I’m getting pretty stoked. We’re having a party! I’m going to get all dressed up! Mr. S and I are getting maaaaaaaaaried!
And we’ll see how I’m feeling in a week, but right now, I have to say that my stress levels are surprisingly low. There are a few last-minute projects I need to finish, but it’s nothing major, difficult or time consuming. I’ve had my final meetings with the florist, caterer, DJ and photographers. Any outstanding vendor issues have been resolved.
There have been a couple of ensemble-related mishaps, but nothing that terrible.
Mishap #1: Last week, I tried on the bolero I ordered from Etsy many months ago. Well, that sucker was waaaaay too big now, and there was no time to get it altered. No worries, though. I’ve decided to sell it, and instead, I ordered this beauty from BHLDN:
Look, the model is even wearing it with my dress! It’s so pretty, and I think that I could even wear it with a cute tank and jeans after the wedding. Scooooooore!
Speaking of my dress…
Mishap #2: Late last week, I went in for my second fitting.
When I went in for my first fitting, two weeks ago, I only needed minimal alterations. I needed the bodice of the dress taken in a bit, and I wanted the skirt shortened to about an inch or two below my knee. The dress also has a tulle petticoat to add some volume to the skirt and I asked the dressmaker to leave about an inch and a half of tulle sticking out from underneath the skirt.
On Friday, I tried on the dress. As a reminder, this is what the dress looked like when I bought it in February:

And this is what it looked like on Friday:
The length is good, but where is the tulle peeking out from the hem? Nowhere. I asked the dressmaker about it and she was mortified that she’d forgotten to do it correctly. Luckily, it’s a quick fix, and she assured me that it would be perfect when I come to pick it up this Friday.
And she even told me that I was remarkably calm and pleasant about the whole ordeal. She said “Most brides would be furious at me right now!”
This made me feel great! It made me feel like doing this:

Considering that I am usually very high-strung and erratic, with a huge temper, I am pretty impressed with myself that I didn’t get upset over this. And it’s not like I wanted to get upset but managed to calm myself down—I really didn’t mind. I truly felt calm about the whole thing.
This is so out of character for me, but I will enjoy my newfound Zen as long as it lasts.
Do you find yourself being surprisingly calm as your wedding approaches, or is the stress getting to you?
