Mrs. Hyena, College Station, TX Age and Occupation: 23, Marketing Specialist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Aerospace Engineering Grad Student Engagement Date: January 8, 2010 Wedding Date: May 2011 Venue: Downtown 202 About Me: I'm a Texas girl who met my future hubby in high school, then headed up to Oklahoma for a college education (BOOMER SOONER!) before moving back to the Lone Star State to be with him. I love reading and recycling, Photoshop and reality TV, making lame jokes and then laughing at them, quoting movies, and Mr. Hyena most of all. I'm perpetually early and I like to get things accomplished. When my cat meows at me, I meow back. We're planning a laid-back, unintentionally DIY wedding with a cocktail-party vibe, and can't wait to celebrate our nuptials with our nearest and dearest!
About Mrs. Hyena

This is Bridesmaid A on her wedding day in 2009. Isn’t she beautiful?

I was not a bridesmaid in her wedding, but I was helping out with last-minute details, setting up the reception area, all that good stuff…and about an hour before pre-ceremony family portraits were supposed to begin, A looked in the mirror and did not like what she saw. She had bought one of those corset-type bras for under her dress, and it was doing something weird. She couldn’t get married like this! Naturally, because I knew it would someday make an awesome story since she was the bride and brides need to be kept happy, I offered up my strapless bra as her “something borrowed.” The dress looked better, she looked happier; crisis averted! She got married, we partied, and I went boobs akimbo while we all did the “Superfreak” dance.

Thus began a strange tradition. Back in February, A called me and offered to send me the corset bra from her wedding. I hadn’t planned on buying one; I was just going to wear a strapless bra (incidentally, the same one she borrowed from me—man, I need to go bra shopping more often), but I accepted. We’re about the same size, so it should fit fine.

So lookie what came in the mail.

There you have it: my something borrowed. You better believe I’m passing it on after the wedding if BM A doesn’t want it back. :)

What’s the best wedding story you have?

“Boobs akimbo” may be my new favorite saying. Ripping off your bra and giving it to the bride? Now THAT is a dedicated friend!

Haha… love this story. I just hope it’s a good bra and you don’t have any weird bra action going on like BM A. Otherwise maybe bra swaps day-of will become your family’s wedding tradition? :)

I had one of those, it cost me $75+ for something I only wore for 3 hours. This is a brilliant tradition!

A corset bra is my something borrowed too! My sister wore it for her wedding 2.5 years ago and obviously doesn’t need it any longer. She lovingly calls it the jaws of death.

@Miss Ireland: HAHA, thanks. :)
@Miss Funnel Cake: Heh, guess we’ll see, huh? :)
@Mrs. Glasses: Thanks!
@Mrs. Ostrich: LOL :)
@Miss Horseshoe: Huzzah! If nothing else, it makes a hilarious story. At least it’s only for a couple hours, right?
