Incorporating Loves: Quotes

May 6th, 2011 @ 1:56 pm by Mrs. Pony

One thing I am very eager to incorporate into our wedding is my love of quotes. For me, a familiar quote often evokes memories of events or times in my life. Much like songs, quotes really resonate with me by helping me celebrate the happy times in my life and strengthening my resolve during the trying times.

Some of my favorite quotes on love, marriage, and romantic sentiment include:

True love stories never have endings. ~Richard Bach

Live in the moment and make it beautiful that it will be worth remembering. ~Fanny Crosby

For a long time it seemed to me that life was about to begin—real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life. This perspective has helped me to see there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way. So treasure every moment you have and remember that time waits for no one. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. ~Souza

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. ~Helen Keller

Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That is why they call it the present. ~Eleanor Roosevelt

If I know what love is, it is because of you. ~Herman Hesse

In dreams and in love there are no impossibilities. ~Janos Arany

We had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossoms had fallen from our branches, we found that we were one tree and not two. ~ from de Bernieres’s novel, Corelli’s Mandolin

All you need is love ~John Lennon & Paul McCartney

For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul. ~Judy Garland

Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be. ~Robert Browning

It doesn’t matter if the guy is perfect or the girl is perfect, as long as they are perfect for each other. ~from Good Will Hunting

Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead. The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and a richness to life that nothing else can bring. ~Oscar Wilde

When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible. ~from When Harry Met Sally

The best thing to hold onto in life is each other. ~Audrey Hepburn

Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine. ~Anthony J. D’Angelo, The College Blue Book

Look at the stars, look how they shine for you, and all the things you do. ~Coldplay

Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale. ~Unknown

It’s a lot of quotes, I know, but I love them so.

For a long time I was stumped on how to properly include quotes in our wedding. And, like all divine wedding inspiration, the perfect idea presented itself to me when I was shamelessly searching wedding blogs for inspiration for something else.

I’m not sure how I can express just how much I love this. When I saw this picture, I knew I had to do this or something very similar to this at our wedding.

Then a few months later I saw this, which also made my heart flutter:

I am loving the idea of highlighting a particular quote at our reception. I haven’t quite figured out the best way to make this happen, and I am nowhere close to picking out the quote we will use, but these photos have my mind racing with ideas. We could use lights, vinyl cut-outs, or a giant screenprint to showcase our wedding quote for all our guests to see.

Seeing these inspiration photos also got me thinking about incorporating quotes into other aspects of the wedding, such as programs, welcome bags, the guestbook, cocktail napkins, or anything else I can convince Mr. Pony would look better with a quote on it.

Like Mrs. Doxie did on her adorable invitations:

Or like these wonderful cocktail napkins from Mrs. Cheesburger:

I am very excited to find fun, feasible ways to incorporate my love of quotes into our wedding day. My hope is that in the months and years following our wedding, when I see or hear our wedding quote, it will bring me back to the love and happiness that surrounded us on our wedding day.

I also am quote-obsessed!! I follow so many “quote” blogs on Tumblr and Twitter…

I think my problem would be choosing just one quote…as you noted, once you start thinking of them there are just so many good ones! Good luck picking one!! :-)

I used quotes on our DIY waterbottles! I figure that it will give our guests something to read while they’re waiting for the ceremony to start!

The banners wouldn’t be so difficult to make; some sturdy weight muslin, iron-on letters, grommets in the corners, and voila…

I dreamed of a wedding of elaborate elegance,
A church filled with family and friends.
I asked him what kind of a wedding he wished for,
He said one that would make me his wife.

@RedRoses2: Wait…quote BLOGS?!?! How did I now know about these? There goes my afternoon.
@Hannah: Nice idea! Are you making them all different so guests can compare?
@Mrs. Meerkat: DO IT!! (and then invite me and I will endlessly praise your awesomeness :))
@Crown: Yes! Now to get Mr. Pony to see it this way….
@Courtnee: Great quotes! I always love seeing/hearing more!

@Miss Pony: Yes! For example here is one (This is not my site) - http://quote-book.tumblr.com/ ; and here is one on Twitter (also not mine) - http://twitter.com/#!/FamousWomen .

Though I also love music, I think you described it well - hearing quotes is like listening to music for me. They revitalize me and make me think :-) .

However this reminds me of…
“[....]Mr. Blunden is no more able to resist a quotation than some people are to refuse a drink.”
– George Orwell, on Edmund Blunden

I placed love quotes on the back of all my table number frame stands, it’s a great conversation starter since each table is different….I have pictures if you would like to see:)

I love the love quotes, there is one that I would love to use, but I cannot figure out how to reasonable fit it in.
“You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.”

I love all those quotes, my favorite being that Cold Play song :) The quotes on the wall are sweet, maybe having stick on/peel off wall decals made? But perhaps a bit $$$. The hanging canvas quotes are EPIC and I’d love to see that at a wedding!
