I might be a little obsessed capturing those Kodak moments of anything and everything (mainly on vacations). I've become more of a gamer thanks to Mr. Elephant, who I met online and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with. We are planning a wedding based on our favorite colors, blue and green, with a travel theme for 150 of our closest friends and family. Hopefully our long (2-year) engagement won't kill me!
About Mrs. Elephant

A Personal Thank You

May 11th, 2011 @ 1:47 pm by Mrs. Elephant

We were very lucky to have such wonderful friends and family come from all over the country (as well as outside of the country) to Dallas to celebrate with us during our wedding weekend. Our wedding would not have been the same without the love and support of our guests, and their generosity in the gift giving area simply blew our minds.

Similar to the thank you cards that we made from our engagement pictures and used for shower gifts, I wanted to make photo thank you cards for the wedding. We almost forgot to have a picture taken on the wedding day with my awesome DIY sign, but thankfully right after the send off Mr. E reminded me and the photographers. We were able to get in some last minute shots before going back up to the bridal suite for champagne and cake.

I couldn’t decide on one picture (I have a feeling I am going to have a very hard time narrowing down pictures when it comes time to make our album), so guests either received this card:

A Personal Thank You : wedding dallas stationery thank you 004 004

Or this card

A Personal Thank You : wedding dallas stationery thank you 003 003

I’m so impressed that Lynn was able to get a good shot with the banner flapping all over the place due to the wind.

I love that Vistaprint now allows you to add a picture and message on the back of the card too!

A Personal Thank You : wedding dallas stationery thank you 001 001

It was a personal goal of mine to have all of the cards written and in the mail before we deposited any checks, so we were hard at work as soon as the cards arrived in the mail. Hand cramps aside, I can’t thank our guests enough but I hope these words will give them an idea of how much it meant to us to celebrate with them.

Will you be ordering thank you cards from a wedding picture (or two)?

@Miss Smurf: We used the folded note cards and hand wrote the messages on the inside. :)

I wasn’t sure if you thought they were the postcards.

I love photo thank you cards, but I also love beautiful letterpress note cards. I am at a loss right now. I guess we will see.

Those look great! You are so on the ball Mrs. E! I’d like to do something like this too but our photographer has a 2 month turnaround time. Not sure what to do…

@Miss Gazelle: Maybe you can ask for that specific picture? Our photographer is busy with a bunch of April (and now May) weddings but when she sent our teasers she asked if there were any pictures that we needed right away. I asked for the Thank You ones and she worked on and sent them within a day.

Yes! This is exactly why we want to use VistaPrint after the wedding–thank you for this post! I wasn’t sold on the postcard format for this purpose, but knowing that they have folded cards seals the deal. And, that’s incredible you cranked those out before depositing the checks. So thoughtful!

Love that you’re focusing on getting your thank you notes done early. When I was a kid, my parents wouldn’t let me have any Christmas/birthday money or presents until I’d sent out the thank you notes. I’m pretty good about that still — hope I’ll be able to retain that discipline about it when it comes to wedding gifts.

Wow–I’m a slacker! We had the same wedding date and I haven’t even ordered my thank you cards yet. Yours have already been sent! You’re so awesome. BUT, we did just spend last week on our honeymoon and then had a reception (in Texas actually) this past Saturday where we received lots of gifts so it hasn’t been too long yet. Even so, you’ve inspired me to get moving on it! It’s so important to thank people.

@cafegirl: Don’t feel like a slacker! We didn’t go on our week long honeymoon left, so I was back at work the Thursday after the wedding and had time to order the cards. Hope you had a great time at your Texas reception!!
