Mrs. Cotton Candy, Riverside, CA Age and Occupation: 29, Field Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Process Server Engagement Date: July 5, 2007 Wedding Date: June 2011 Venue: Riverside Art Museum About Me: I’m a girl in love with her best friend planning a small mid-century modern inspired wedding that’s been a long time coming. I love all things design, sewing, flea markets, and a good book. I’ve been known to swoon over a well-designed chair and often find myself craving a new addition to my chair collection regardless of the lack square footage in our home. I’m Mexican American girl who hates all things spicy but loves her rowdy Mexican family and her Latin roots. My wedding muses may not be your typical wedding superstars, but with a lot of DIY, a dash of offbeat style, and lots of love and laughs, Mr. Cotton and I plan to create a day that is unmistakably us.
About Mrs. Cotton Candy

You’re Invited!

May 11th, 2011 @ 12:32 pm by Mrs. Cotton Candy

The Cotton Candy invitations have finally flown the coop and are on their way to their new homes! These beauties were a true labor of love for Mr. CCandy and me. They took up way more time than we ever anticipated and a few tears may have been shed in the process, but they were beyond worth it because I’m in deep love with them!

The Invitations were printed on the yummiest pearly shimmery paper and were a combination of inkjet and screen printing. We had initially planned on screen-printing all three inserts but struggled with getting a clean burn on the screen and ended up printing the text for each insert on our cheapo ink jet printer and screen printed the color border.

The fabric for the backing was screen printed by us on the most perfect shade of chartreuse fabric and the three inserts and fabric backing were stitched together with grey thread.

I originally planned on going with a wraparound label similar to the one we used on our STD but opted instead for fancy labels that we cut using my Cricut and scrap paper. For postage we went with the new Forever Jazz stamp, because it had a mid-century vibe, and the George Washington $.20 stamp.

At the end of the day we were about two weeks late in sending our invitations out, which wouldn’t have bothered me too much except for the fact that we received several nasty-grams from guests via Facebook about their tardiness. Hopefully their fabulousness will make people forget that they should have received them about 2 weeks ago and get them excited for our wedding!

Anyone else send their invitations out late?

These look awesome!! I love the buttons! I’ve been working on my invitations none stop as well and I was wondering about the wrap around addressing…is anyone ever worried about the labels falling off?

I. LOVE. THEM.
Well worth the wait, I say! This is coming from someone who is also two weeks late and counting on her wedding invitations (as you know), but I’d say that anyway! They’re SO AWESOME!
