As an honors graduate fallen victim to the worst job market in history in my area, we're doing everything we can to still have the wedding of our dreams on a tighter budget. I currently enjoy working at a winery, but I'm lonnng overdue for a day job! I am: a big-time daydreamer, one of the pickiest eaters you'll ever meet, and a lover of pretty paper and awesome fonts. I'm a girly girl who loves to get dolled up, but also a country girl who loves to get muddy and go 4-wheeler riding. I also enjoy singing in the car, boating, going to concerts, the History Channel, carnival food, and going to watch St. Louis Cardinals baseball with my handsome engineer.

Dress Search: The Rejects

May 12th, 2011 @ 10:45 am by Mrs. Balloons

I first thought that I was going to have a problem finding a dress because I am pretty picky, but when I actually started dress shopping, it was just the opposite…it was hard because I liked too many dresses! I liked almost all of the dresses that I tried on. That’s the thing, though…I only liked them. I didn’t love them. I tried on a lot of dresses, ladies. Let’s scroll down to view some of the rejects, shall we?

The dress above is the Maggie Sottero “Sabelle.” It is the one dress that I would always tear out of magazines, and it’s the one dress that I couldn’t wait to try on. Wellll, once I actually got it on, it definitely did not live up to expectations. I think I’m way too short for it…it just made me look kinda frumpy.

Another Maggie Sottero

This is when I started to realize maybe I wouldn’t be wearing the ballgown style like I always thought that I would.

This is not even close to all the dresses that I tried on before finding THE ONE. How ’bout you ladies—did you end up changing your original vision after you started trying dresses on?

My idea changed a lot! I wanted something very flowy and long and breezy, but those dresses wound up not being very flattering on me at all. I ended up going with an a-line style instead.

Can’t wait to see what you ultimately decided on!

I don’t think “frumpy” is a word that could ever describe you! I feel like most brides I know ended up wearing dresses that were completely the opposite from their original dream dress because you just never know until you have it on.

I did…even after I chose “the one”. I fell in love with this particular dress last September. Then I didn’t go back until January (after dropping 15 pounds). The dress was huge and did nothing for my newly found “figure”. I found another “one”. I still love it. After dropping more inches each time I try it on, it just looks better and better. You, btw, look gorg in all those dresses…except for that pocket one…but believe me, its the dress, not you. Your shape is awesome…show it off! No ballroom gowns, please. Those are to hide the fat that I used to have. Haha

the pocket dress looks stunning on you! But maybe I’m just biased because it’s similar to my dress. You don’t look bad in any of those dresses though… you really could have gone with any one of them :)

They all look fantastic on you!

Would you happen to remember the designer of the 3rd to last and 2nd to last dresses? The strapless lacey one with flowered belt and the one with lace straps and keyhole back? They’re gorgeous!

You have an awesome figure. I’m not saying you should wear something really tight or anything but do wear something that showcases it. I’m in agreement with ksmith. I don’t really like the pocket one personally. I love the lace dress on you though! Which one did you pick?

I LOVE The top on the one second from the bottom! So beautiful and different. So many dresses are strapless with sweetheart necklines, its nice to see one with a little more interesting detail on top. That being said, I’m a sucker for a dress with pockets… that’s gotta be my favorite, I can’t wait to see what you’ve picked!
