Mrs. Balloons's Picture
Mrs. Balloons, Aspen, CO Age and Occupation: 24, Mass Communications graduate, Web Design student, & winery worker Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Engineer Engagement Date: July 10, 2009 Wedding Date: August 2011 Venue: The Sundeck at The Little Nell About Me: I'm a small-town Midwest girl planning an intimate mountaintop destination wedding complete with a huge DIY at-home reception. As an honors graduate fallen victim to the worst job market in history in my area, we're doing everything we can to still have the wedding of our dreams on a tighter budget. I currently enjoy working at a winery, but I'm lonnng overdue for a day job! I am: a big-time daydreamer, one of the pickiest eaters you'll ever meet, and a lover of pretty paper and awesome fonts. I'm a girly girl who loves to get dolled up, but also a country girl who loves to get muddy and go 4-wheeler riding. I also enjoy singing in the car, boating, going to concerts, the History Channel, carnival food, and going to watch St. Louis Cardinals baseball with my handsome engineer.
About Mrs. Balloons

AKA our trip to Colorado to make sure that our ceremony venue is as breathtaking in person as it is in the photos! Aaaand drumroll, please…IT IS EVERYTHING THAT I HOPED FOR AND MORE!

We road-tripped all the way from Illinois to Colorado! I know we’re officially OK to get married after being in a car for that long together and not killing each other. Actually, just the opposite—it was fun!

A Reassuring Ceremony-Site Visit : wedding aspen venues Ball1

Road trip! Perfect time to break out into song. “And it’s two bare feet on the dashboard. Young love and an old Ford. Cheap shades and a tattoo and a Yoo-Hoo bottle on the floorboard. Perfect song on the radio. Sing along ’cause it’s one we know. It’s a smile, it’s a kiss, it’s a sip of wine, it’s summertime. Sweet summertime.”

Road-trip-survival necessities that I brought along:

Lots of snacks! Yuuuum, Kettlecorn!

Lots and lots of good music! I’m a music girl, you guys. I haaave to have good music whether I’m driving 10 minutes or 17 hours. In my six-slot CD changer in my car, you will find many random mixes.

A hefty pile of bridal magazines.

A portable DVD player with two complete seasons of The Tudors. If you have not seen this show, go watch it! Right now. It’s hot! Jonathan Rys Myers may or may not have been one of my fave parts of the road trip.

OK, now, on to the good stuff! When we got to Aspen:

…and this is where we will be getting married. *girly squeal!* This just does not even do it justice—it’s breathtaking!

Up next: We also got our engagement pictures done while we were in Colorado!

Let me just tell you how jealous I am that you had your feet on the dashboard! That is a huge no-no in the FI’s world (he loves his truck almost as much as he loves me!)

The site is gorgeous. Makes me want to head to Colorado :)

Holy moly! Is it too late to change my venue location? Seriously, I’m going to live vicariously through your wedding, because mountains = heaven.

What a spectacular location for your wedding!

Do you have a rain contingency plan? I am thinking of doing a similar type of thing on an Eastern mountain, but am worried about the possibility of rain, and am not sure what my backup would be. What are you planning on?
