As an honors graduate fallen victim to the worst job market in history in my area, we're doing everything we can to still have the wedding of our dreams on a tighter budget. I currently enjoy working at a winery, but I'm lonnng overdue for a day job! I am: a big-time daydreamer, one of the pickiest eaters you'll ever meet, and a lover of pretty paper and awesome fonts. I'm a girly girl who loves to get dolled up, but also a country girl who loves to get muddy and go 4-wheeler riding. I also enjoy singing in the car, boating, going to concerts, the History Channel, carnival food, and going to watch St. Louis Cardinals baseball with my handsome engineer.

Choosing the Wedding Party

May 15th, 2011 @ 6:10 pm by Mrs. Balloons

Mr. Balloons and I narrowed it down and decided who we’d like to join us in Colorado on our big day. These are the “Will you be my bridesmaid?” cards that I sent my girls:

Choosing the Wedding Party : wedding aspen bridesmaid Balloons balloons

The customizable template came from Wedding Chicks.

I used the template from the Wedding Chicks website and customized it into my colors. Then I uploaded the design onto VistaPrint where I created it into a folding card. I hand wrote a personalized message into each girl’s card. I wanted to send out these cards instead of asking them in person because I didn’t want them to feel pressured to say yes; because it’s going to be a destination wedding and the expense is going to be greater on them, I wanted them to have plenty of time to think it over before responding. Everyone ended up saying yes! There will be seven girls on my side and seven guys on Mr. B’s side. The only iffy thing is that my sister is a bridesmaid, but she is in the Air Force and currently stationed in Japan. She’s based in Misawa, which luckily didn’t get as much major damage from the Tsunami as other parts of Japan. She is, however, working day and night to help other areas recover from this devastating disaster and is unsure if she will be allowed to have leave time when the wedding comes around. Fingers crossed that she can make it, but I appreciate greatly what she’s doing to help in Japan.

Did you have anyone in your wedding party who was sort of “up in the air”? How did you handle it when planning?

Those are sooo cute! I’m glad they said yes.

Yeah, I ran into a hitch. With 80 days to go my MOH told me she wasn’t sure if she was coming or not because her boyfriend wasn’t coming.

My sister-in-law is in the US Airforce stationed in Japan too! Small world. And it was for that very reason that she and Mr E’s brother/best man couldnt come to our wedding. I hope your sister is able to make it to yours!

Love that template! I found “will you be my bridesmaid” poems online and handwrote them into note cards. Each girl got a different poem that worked with our individual friendship. I hosted a brunch for them and gave them their cards in person.

I so hope your sister is able to make it!

Wow! I never would have thought to send “Will you be my bridesmaid?” cards. Now I’m feeling kind of lame and wishing that I would have done it!

I love those cards. And if your sister can’t make it, at least it’s for an amazing reason like helping rebuild.

Great idea, makes it special instead of just a phone call or email!
