Go play some League of Legends, please dear?
Ok, now that he’s gone, we can talk about…
that veil that 100% of you said I should buy! I bought it! It arrived! I can’t figure out how to wear it!
It’s a little wrinkly from being in the box, so it will need a bit of a steam (or something) to get some creases out, but it is lovely! I ordered the ivory colour, as my dress is ivory, and it is just right. I was worried it might look a little too yellow or dirty, but all fears disappeared as soon as I opened the box. The model in the listing is wearing it at a jaunty angle over one side of her face:

Veil by TessaKim on Etsy (11″ double-layered veil)
So I tried that:
Not bad, right? (Minus the cluttered fridge in the background) It’s off to one side, with the comb stuck in about where I usually wear my hair in a bun.
I figured I should try it a few different ways, so I stuck the comb in the centre of my head, far enough forward so the veil would come down to my chin:
Funny face because I’m having scary flashbacks of playing goalie on the junior field hockey team. Nuh-uh. At least I realised that closing the bathroom door would hide the fridge.
Maybe I should go back to a jaunty angle…
Too jaunty, now I just feel drunk. I think I’ll stick with a mildly-jaunty angle, like in the first picture of me. Weird thing to note: putting it on that angle felt very natural. I tried to put it on on the other angle, and it was like you’d asked me to play the piano with my toes. It just felt so wrong to have it over the right side of my face (yes, I did get that correct, I was taking pictures in the mirror!). Do you think it is a right-handed thing?
The reason I wasn’t originally looking for a veil was because I thought that veil + glasses would be a little bit much going on on my face. Why did I then buy a TWO-layer veil, with two different fabrics (fine tulle and Russian veiling)? I fell in love with it and thought I’d be able to make it work, in the immortal words of Tim Gunn.
Something to note… it’s hard to see through! Even harder to type through, so hopefully there aren’t too many typos in this post.
I’m just glad I won’t be wearing it for too long on the wedding day! We’re going to do a first look, and I’ve been planning on being veil-less for that, because it is hours before our ceremony. I’ll put it on for the ceremony, which will also make the look a wee bit of a surprise for Cinnamon Buns.
Any other suggestions on how to wear it? And tell me true…glasses +2 layers of veil = too much or awesome? Keep in mind that these pics of me are in my normal state—no makeup at all.
