Before I get into our consults, I wanted to backtrack a little and show the flow of events of how this process went down.
Like I said in my previous post, I decided to check into day of coordination (DOC) in my area just to get a ballpark idea of what it would cost to have someone there on the day of to run things.

I set up an appointment with a local planner the following day and discussed with Mr. High Wire whether or not it would be a smart idea to spend the money to hire one. We decided that it was worth it.
As soon as I got off the phone with her, she actually called me back letting me know that she had another appointment that day with a bride who had the same wedding date as me! Was this a marketing ploy to get my business? If so, it was working. She said she would call me ASAP if the other bride ended up booking.
But the morning came to a close (no phone call—yay!), I got ready for my meeting (still no phone call), and headed toward the Starbucks.
I actually wound up being WAY early for the appointment (a rarity for me). So, I stopped for gas, took some time replacing my registration sticker on my car window, and then my phone rang. Nooooooo!

Yep, the other bride booked. It turned out that she had been talking with this other bride for a whole year and the bride couldn’t get herself to make a decision. Well, I guess knowing that I was about to swoop in and potentially book her planner gave her the final push she needed to book.
So, I left the gas station and drove home. I was pretty bummed, folks. But what can you do? I’m a big believer in “if it was meant to be it would have happened.”
Then after my massive Google search of Sunday afternoon, I heard back almost immediately from a planner who included everything I was looking for at a very reasonable price. We met, went over the packages, talked about what I wanted in a planner, and chatted about what our vision for the wedding was. She also detailed exactly how she works to make sure the wedding day is running smoothly and on time. We actually wound up talking for nearly an hour—my longest vendor meeting yet!
She had it all, folks! The price was right, and she told me she would do whatever it takes to get the job done. She’s happy to help anywhere that needs it…including the day before and one to two months leading up to the wedding. She even said her pricing is what it is because she genuinely wants to help all kinds of brides on their wedding day, not just the super rich. Yes, yes, and yes.
Shelley with Escada Weddings will be running the show! I can’t wait to work with her.

Ain’t she cute??
All in all, I think this will be a super-awesome addition to the High Wire wedding.
Have you had any planning mishaps that turned into something positive?
