Mrs. Balloons's Picture
Mrs. Balloons, Aspen, CO Age and Occupation: 24, Mass Communications graduate, Web Design student, & winery worker Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Engineer Engagement Date: July 10, 2009 Wedding Date: August 2011 Venue: The Sundeck at The Little Nell About Me: I'm a small-town Midwest girl planning an intimate mountaintop destination wedding complete with a huge DIY at-home reception. As an honors graduate fallen victim to the worst job market in history in my area, we're doing everything we can to still have the wedding of our dreams on a tighter budget. I currently enjoy working at a winery, but I'm lonnng overdue for a day job! I am: a big-time daydreamer, one of the pickiest eaters you'll ever meet, and a lover of pretty paper and awesome fonts. I'm a girly girl who loves to get dolled up, but also a country girl who loves to get muddy and go 4-wheeler riding. I also enjoy singing in the car, boating, going to concerts, the History Channel, carnival food, and going to watch St. Louis Cardinals baseball with my handsome engineer.
About Mrs. Balloons

…especially now that we have a super-awesome videographer…eh, hmm, I mean cinematographer. We kinda sorta may have about tripled what we had budgeted for this super-awesome cinematographer, but I cannot even begin to explain how excited I am about having him at our wedding! This is another area that initially Mr. B and I were in major disagreement on. He didn’t think we really even needed a videographer to begin with, so you can imagine his shock and resistance when I told him the one that I was in love with was triple what we had budgeted. It took some convincing, let me tell you…but he slowly started to come around when I showed him how awesome it would be to have a video like the one below to show our friends and family at our at-home reception:

Alexis + Fred Highlights from Rising Moon on Vimeo

That was shot at our gorgeous ceremony venue, by the way! Aaaaah! I get all giddy all over again every time I see it! When I first started planning the wedding, I didn’t know much about wedding videography. It’s just not something you see that many people utilize back where I’m from. I was originally hooked on the idea after discovering this awesome piece:

Alex + Anna: Trash the Dress from Alexander Zinchuk on Vimeo

If you remember, we were originally planning a tropical beach wedding. I was sooo going to do a sweet trash-the-dress shoot like that video. I tossed around the idea of doing something similar in Colorado, but unfortunately I’m not allowed to stretch the budget by another penny in that area, and there’s no way time would allow for it based on the hours we have our cinematographer booked for. *sigh* Oh well, I’m still super excited about having such a talented video producer nonetheless.

Are you having video shot at your wedding? Was your FI all for it, or did it take some convincing? Any fave wedding videos that you’d like to share?

That video is amazing! I don’t know if we’ll be having a videographer - but this is certainly making me think about it again!

I think this is a splurge well worth it because 1. their work is seriously amazing and 2. featuring it at your at-home reception will be a great gift to your guests!

With all of the splurges we’ve already added to our budget, we couldn’t swing adding a videographer.

One of my BMs is bringing her video camera and we are using that to get footage of the day :)

Your videographer looks amazing. I REALLY want a videographer too. FI doesn’t think we need one. But then again, he doesn’t think we need anything except an open bar. I hope to be able to wiggle it into our budget!

Mr. Tartlet was all for making room in our budget for a videographer/cinematographer, and we’re both SO glad we did even though we haven’t seen our film yet. The day flew by incredibly fast!

Luckily, the FI was all for a videographer. After a lot of research to find someone within our budget, we booked an amazing videographer who lowered their rate so we could afford them. Jackpot!

This is so amazing but so out of the budget. I’m hoping to piece together footage caught by our guests into something that, if I’m lucky, is half as beautiful and moving.

I had no idea good, good video (the cinematic kind I like) was so expensive until we were into planning… unfortunately, it didn’t work out for us. Sounds like it turned out great for you guys!!
