About Mrs. Bunting

Shoe shopping. Most girls love it. A few girls hate it. I personally start off loving it, but then ultimately end up wanting to throw shoes across the store in frustration. OK, that may be taking it a bit too far, but I really do get frustrated when it comes to shoes.

Video via YouTube

You see, I’m one of those girls with weird feet. Not like six-toes weird or anything, but I do have:

  • larger feet (it comes with being tall)
  • wide feet
  • a true half size
  • unusually knobby bone bits

Combine these things and you’re very limited in what shoes you can wear. I am a size 10.5, and unfortunately a lot of brands stop the half-sizes at 9.5. That means that 10s are usually a bit too small, and 11s are usually a bit too big. If I do find a shoe that fits lengthwise, my next obstacle is the width. My feet are a bit wider, and it only makes matters worse that the bones on the main joint below my big toe are very knobby. They aren’t bunions, but they may as well be mild ones with they way they stick out. So all those cute flats that are EVERYWHERE? Take note of where the opening falls across your foot. Yep. Right over that knobby joint of the inner foot. There’s also a nerve that goes across that region, so if the fit is tight against a wider or knobbier foot, it compresses against that nerve and your big toe will actually start to go numb. So not good.

As you can imagine, shoe shopping is very hard for me. Most shoes are too big or too small, if they even come in a larger size to begin with, and then are too narrow or tight across that nerve. I never have much luck at our stores.

BUT! I have found hope! You may or may not know of it already, but on the off chance that you don’t, there is a new obsession of mine:

These Shoes Rock! These Shoes Suck... : wedding grand rapids shoes Endless

Hundreds of shoes. Of all shapes, styles, and colors. Including larger half sizes. But the best part? Free shipping, free return shipping, and returns are accepted up to 365 days since the purchase (as long as they’re still in the same condition as when received). Ladies. This is amazing. This is the mecca of shoe havens. I am so hooked.

I have already gone through several orders on my quest to find comfortable shoes I like, and this Bunting is definitely liking.

All of these shoes rock, but they just weren’t meant to be for my wedding, so the search is still on.

Does anyone else have a favorite secret or not-so-secret source for their shoe fix? Is anyone else dealing with problem feet?

Wide footed woman here too and it sucks. If shoes fit the width, they’re falling off my foot. And they ones that actually fit are never cute.

I have the same size feet! It’s so hard to find cute shoes that fit. And what is a 10 or 11 in one brand isn’t the same as a different brand. I’ve almost given up on the US numbering system and pay attention to the cm measurement if listed since I used that while living in Japan. (It was actually easier for me to find cute shoes online in my size in Japan than it is here!)

Hang in there! I’m sure you’ll find your dream shoes!

Bahahhaha, I love you for posting that video, cracks me up every time I watch it.

I have the opposite problem… teeny tiny feet. I usually find myself shopping in the kids department and I’m not sure where to find wedding shoes!!

Unfortunately this is not the site for me. When I clicked on “women’s shoes” there were 1700 pairs of shoes. When I click on my size that number dropped to 55. *sigh*

Ugh, I totally understand your problems. My feet are a 9.5 in heels, a 10 in flats and a 10.5 in running shoes. Oh, and I have high arches, so my instep often rises above the instep of the shoe, creating arch blisters. Awesome. Especially because even though a lot of designers make 9.5, a whole lot more don’t. So I’m either squeezing into a 9 (blister city) or flopping around in a 10 (still blister city).

Soooo, thank you thank you thank you for this website!! I’m obsessed, hahaha

OK, now that I have read that, I have a high-arch problem. Shoes never fit all that well because the arches aren’t high enough or aren’t in the right place. But I do love shoes.

@Cori: So what I’m hearing is that we must travel to Japan to go shoe shopping! I’m on board!
@TinyTina: Oh no, that may be even worse! Were there any cute ones out of those 55?
@In the media: Haha, I am so honored!

@Miss Canaras: Your welcome! I hope it’s as helpful to you as it is for me. Seriously, the free shipping and free return shipping is -so- awesome.
@In the media: Can you get insoles for high arches to help? I have flat feet but my brother has high arches, and we’ve both had inserts made to help us.

@Miss Bunting: I dream about going back to shop all the time! I had an awesome pair of black boots, low heel, wide enough for my calves, etc that I tried to ship back and they got all beat up beyond repair in the process. I cried ; ; cause I don’t think I’ll ever find a pair that fit as well for me over here.

I totally understand you. I have the exact same problem. 10.5 wide feet. I still have not started looking for wedding shoes though!

Hey, I have pancake feet and I always have luck with steve madden generally I have to buy them a .5 size bigger and then they have gel things that go in your heel and i put them along the side too for cushion. It works like a dream and they more comfortable than then before!

I heart Endless.com! I got my first pair of wedding shoes there last July. When we started dance lessons I realized they weren’t going to stay on my feet so I returned them…last week. 365 day return policy rules!

It’s so hard to find comfy shoes for wide footed ladies! There are so many cute shoes that I love but I can’t cram my foot into them-why can’t more women’s shoes come in wide sizes? They have them for men after all.

@Cori: That’s so sad! Poor black boots…
@In the media: lol, I try!
@Miss High Wire: Aren’t those colors delicious?! The second two aqua ones were SO soft, too.
@Buggy: I’ve done the gel thing with a couple pairs of mine, but then I’m always afraid of looking like I’m wearing shoes that are simply too large.
@lolo7835: Amen to that!
