Cheers for Tears

May 24th, 2011 @ 10:39 am by Mrs. Pony

Mr. Pony has flat out told me not to expect tears from him on our wedding day.

Mr. Pony is not an emotional guy. The only time I have ever seen him cry was when he was reading a particularly sad part of one of the Sword of Truth books. (I’ll give you a minute to stop laughing.) He didn’t even cry in the sixth Harry Potter movie when Dumbledore died. Yeah. I don’t get it either.

So, when Mr. Pony told me the waterworks would not be flowing up on our wedding day, I wasn’t surprised. Crying is obviously not his way of expressing emotions and I understand that. But…I want the tears.

I want to see Mr. Pony so profoundly happy on our wedding day that it brings him to tears. Of course, I know that Mr. Pony will be happy even without the tears. And I know that any possible tears will not change the joy of our day. But, an expression of such joy would be a welcome addition that I can’t help but not-so-secretly hope that a few tears will make an appearance from Mr. Pony on our wedding day.

And, if by some miracle Mr. Pony does cry, I hope our photographer will be lucky enough to catch him in the act so I can look back many years later and relive the grand display of emotion from my groom.

Do you expect your partner to cry on your wedding day? Am I asking too much for a few tears?

My guy is the same way, and I’d love to see tears of joy too.

(Dying to know which part of SoT got him… hehe!)

I have known my FI for 6 years now and the only time I ever saw him cry was when his cat died. There will be no tears from him on our wedding day, but I promise to have enough for both of us!!

I told my fiance if he didn’t cry I wouldn’t say “I do.” Of course, I’m only kidding!! But I would LOVE to see him shed some tears at my sheer wedding day beauty, because I’ll definitely be bawling the entire time. He’s an emotional guy, so I don’t think I’m expecting too much from him.

I wanted my husband to cry a little because I thought I would, but then I didn’t. I couldn’t stop smiling and bouncing while he smiled at me. Totally us and I love it.

My fiance is worried he’s going to bawl through the entire ceremony. I keep telling him it’s fine if he does!

Mr. D is a very passionate person and sometimes the tears do come- but he’s not sappy by any means. The births of our children, our kitty and chinchilla passing on…all cry-worthy events.

He may cry a little but it’ll be purly out of happiness for sure!

I really don’t know if Mr. Bunting will cry or not and I don’t think he knows yet, either!

I’m with you, though, there is something special about seeing your man moved to tears because he gets to marry you.

I know that my fiance probably won’t cry (although I would love to see) we have been together for almost 10.5 years and I can count on one hand how many times he’s cried.

most definitely not lol granted we arent even planning a wedding sooooo yeaaa lol either way he is not a cryer. at all. ever. except for one time where he told me he cried in the shower over a particularly hard time in his life. But I did not witness these tears so I do not know if they really happened or not.

My FI is 24 and I don’t think he has cried since he was 8. I would be shocked if he cried on our big day. I probably would have no idea how to respond to it. But no, I agree, it would be nice to just have a few short tears of joy as I’m going to be drowning the church in mine!! =)

I’ve only seen DH cry once and it was 6 years ago, no joke (it was a movie. I won’t say which one but it was totally a chick flick LOL). I wasn’t expecting tears at the wedding and quite honestly didn’t really want them (from me or him). Not a big public-emotions person.
He did look like he was going to pass out, though; he was nervous saying the vows in front of everyone. Once we got through that, it was all giant smiles :)

My FI told me he doesn’t think he’ll cry but I’m hoping he does!! He’s a softy on the inside but also keeps pretty cool and collected in front of people so I’m not sure what to expect!

I’ve never seen my FI cry and he’s already told me that it’s definitely not happening on our wedding day. But I’m holding out hope that he won’t be able to hold it in when he finally sees me walking down the aisle.

My boy is the same way, the only times I’ve seen him cry are when his grandma died (not the kind of tears I want to see!), when he laughs really hard (that might be okay!), or when I’ve been upset and cried (again, no sad tears!!). As wonderful as it would be to see tears of joy from my typically steadfast dude, I’m sure I’ll cry enough for the both of us!

My husband cried, I cried, everyone cried lol. My father was the worst. I certainly cry from stress/exasperation more than my husband but he loses it in movies more than I do haha.

my now husband bawled at the rehersal. we both shed tears at our first look. and a few were shed at the altar too. my dad cried like a crazy man! even my son who’s 9 shared a “tear of joy” as he calls it!

He has already started tearing up the more we talk about the wedding (18 days away!) and playing the music I’ll walk down the aisle to. I’m sure there will be tears on his side…I can’t say I know if there will be any coming from me though…I can’t seem to get the darn things out even when there is a TON of emotion behind it!
