Mrs. Balloons's Picture
Mrs. Balloons, Aspen, CO Age and Occupation: 24, Mass Communications graduate, Web Design student, & winery worker Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Engineer Engagement Date: July 10, 2009 Wedding Date: August 2011 Venue: The Sundeck at The Little Nell About Me: I'm a small-town Midwest girl planning an intimate mountaintop destination wedding complete with a huge DIY at-home reception. As an honors graduate fallen victim to the worst job market in history in my area, we're doing everything we can to still have the wedding of our dreams on a tighter budget. I currently enjoy working at a winery, but I'm lonnng overdue for a day job! I am: a big-time daydreamer, one of the pickiest eaters you'll ever meet, and a lover of pretty paper and awesome fonts. I'm a girly girl who loves to get dolled up, but also a country girl who loves to get muddy and go 4-wheeler riding. I also enjoy singing in the car, boating, going to concerts, the History Channel, carnival food, and going to watch St. Louis Cardinals baseball with my handsome engineer.
About Mrs. Balloons

Yes, you heard correctly. Wedding inspiration from American Idol…well, actually from this guy:

I. want. Paul McDonald’s. smile. You guys, I’m a teeth person. Teeth are one of the first things that I notice about a person. I’ve always had pretty white teeth; I’ve even gotten compliments on them…and then I met this little devil of a drink called coffee. OK, so coffee isn’t really evil. It helps keep me energized and focused, and it tastes delicious, and so on and so forth…but it is evil on my beloved teeth. Mr. B has fallen victim to the same situation. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not like all of a sudden our teeth are unbearably stained or anything…our smiles just don’t scream “100 watt” like Paul’s does.

When asked his secret, Paul claims he simply brushes once or twice a day and uses Crest Vivid White toothpaste. Really? He must not share in the same love for coffee then because I use the same toothpaste and regimen. So off to find another solution…being on such a tight budget right now, I just cannot justify paying so much for bleaching kits or whitening strips. I saw an ad for this product:

Arm & Hammer Whitening Booster. I decided to give it a shot. It was only somewhere around five dollars a bottle and is super easy to use! All you do is put a strip of it over your normal toothpaste on your toothbrush before you brush. I started to notice a difference after only a few times of using it. Money well spent. Isn’t that always a good feeling? I think I’ll continue using this product for Operation Make My Teeth Look Like Paul McDonald’s by My Wedding Day. :)

What are you doing to brighten your smile for the big day? Anyone have any cost-saving tips or tricks?

Heheh. I know Paul — Mr. Panther recorded his band’s album pre-Idol — and his teeth did NOT look like that before he was on television.

@Miss Panther: I knew it couldn’t just be toothpaste. I’ve used that stuff for like a year and my teeth are nowhere near that white/bright. I’m totally jealous of his teeth though.

I saw him and was so afraid you were going to want his weird flower-painted suit. But just his teeth. OK. Much better.

Oo, thanks for the tip! I haven’t had a chance to try out any whitening products (other than toothpaste) and some of them are so expensive! Mr. Bunting and I will have to go out and get some of this stuff.

White teeth are good, but I have to say…. his look kinda unnatural to me, at least in that last picture (maybe it was retouched?). And yeah, no way was that just toothpaste!

I never even noticed what color my teeth were until recently when I realized they would be photographed next to a white dress all day. I’d love to give this a try!

I love Crest Whitestrips. I use them about twice a year. I, too, am obbsessed with a nice smile. So much so that I think I am getting a new “working retainer” to straighten out my teeth asap!! (Sorry mom for losing my retainer ten years ago!)

I’ve been using the “professional effects” crest whitening strips, and they really do work much better than the other crest strips! I like how they really stick to your teeth ad get the gel in-between them too. The previous, cheaper crest strips I used would kindof slide around after a couple minutes. I notice a difference after just my first use! :) I would love to have a ridic white smile like him but I don’t think crest strips can do that haha. His teeth were DEFINITELY professionally whitened.

I love Paul! Miss Panther, I’m super jelly you know him in RL. I was always impressed with his smile, and Mr. LC and I both agreed there had to have been some extra help in there.

Thanks for the tip on the Arm & Hammer booster, I may need to give this a shot! I will be using the Crest Pro effects strips closer to the wedding day, I’m a little nervous about using them for too long.
