Mrs. Jaguar's Picture
Mrs. Jaguar, Sydney Age and Occupation: 27, Primary School Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, IT Consultant Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2011 Venue: Curzon Hall About Me: I'm an Australian girl who is a self-proclaimed nerd, loves all things stationery and would be lost without books, music and the internet. Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. Travelling makes me giddy...as does Mr. Jaguar, of course!
About Mrs. Jaguar

So.

Flowers.

A fairly important thing to have at weddings, for most brides. Myself included.

The thing is, I’ve never really been particularly fussed about what they looked like. You see, I knew what colours I wanted. I had a rough idea of what style I’d like to replicate. But as for the specifics? The bouquet size. The exact flowers. The perfect bouquet. I wasn’t too worried.

And so, I’m taking my wedding planning cap off for a while and leaving our flowers to the experts. I’ve given our florist a handful of images that are similar to the style that I like, and free rein  to get creative with them. We’re going to be working with whatever flowers are in season to keep costs down, and to make sure that the flowers will be super fresh and last for as long as possible.

What that means is that while I’ve got lots of ideas about how our flowers will look, the final product that is delivered on the day of the wedding is going to be a whopping great surprise.

This way of doing things is definitely not for everyone, especially if you have your heart 100% set on what you want. But it works for us, and I’m REALLY excited to see what our florist comes up with for us. She’ll be organising bouquets, lapels for the boys (and mums), a bridal table low arrangement and a small posy for each of the tables in our reception room.

I am keeping things simple with ivory flowers with lots of greenery thrown in for good measure. And to match the flowers on our cake, there’ll be a few tiny splashes of antique, dusty rose thrown into the bouquets and centrepieces too.

I love the very messy, quirky look of these ones too—such beautiful flowers!

How set were you on your flowers? Did you/could you leave your florist with the creative licence to make you something fabulous for your wedding day?

Well, I was a bit anal about my bouquet but that was it. The centerpieces, altar pieces, every other thing was not something I really cared about :)

I was the same as you - gave my floral designer tons of photos and then let her run with it. And I loved how everything turned out! Afterall, she was the expert, not me!

I’m really nervous about my flowers! But that’s more of a control thing than anything else! lol.

She and I are on the same page, especially after I found the perfect inspiration picture a couple of weeks ago!

I’m more nervous about the decorations that she is doing for us than anything else. For budget reasons we are replacing the “manzanita forest” with curly willow and well, I’m not convinced and unfortunately this is something that I will not see until the day of and I’m worried that I’m going to hate it!

Flowers are not a huge part of our decor. so therefore I was very specific about the few we will have. I love your inspiration photos.

I am meeting with my friendor florist on Friday. I am just going to point at what I like and let her do the rest. Easy peasy.

I’m giving up control here too. I just don’t care about flowers that much!

I am completely giving up control in this area. I had just a couple of ideas and, after finding a florist that I LOVE, I let her have free reign!

I did the same thing - it’s hard to be super specific on this. I said “in season, these colors, looks like these photos” and that was all. Mine turned out really well though!

Beautiful inspiration pics, Jag! I, originally, pretty much relinquished control to my florist (just gave some inspiration pics) but then I freaked out (even though she is AMAZING) and now have a meeting with her next week to re-evaluate that plan and discuss more specifics. Gah. I should probably just let go like you!

mmm I love green + white flowers!! I think you’re totally making the right choice with relinquishing, too!

Thanks, guys! There are so many super amazing & ultra pretty flowers out there - if mine look anything like the inspiration pictures, I’ll be a super happy lady!
