I Shoe Do!

May 26th, 2011 @ 5:12 pm by Mrs. Bunting

Given my difficulties with finding shoes, I’ve been ordering and ordering pair upon pair from Endless. There have been some that were cute but too tight, some that were comfy but too weird, and some that were cute and comfy but just not right for my dress. And then there were these:

I Shoe Do! : wedding grand rapids shoes B002v91

They are cute. They are comfy (as comfy as I’ll ever be in heels). They fit. They are light seafoam green/aqua (and a bit more colorful in person). They are perfect. There’s just one problem.

What?! How can there be a problem if they’re perfect, you ask? Well, you see, I was not looking for a heel that high. I was focusing on flats or teeny tiny kitten heels because…Mr. Bunting is the same height as me. And with heels, I’ll be taller than him. This personally doesn’t bother me, but Mr. Bunting doesn’t really want to look shorter than me on our wedding day. I can understand this, and I reeeeally tried to find flats that would work, but these are just. so. perfect!

Still, I was a little reserved with emotionally committing to them because my mind kept going back to poor Mr. Bunting…until I tried them on with my dress. And they were perfect all over again.

I keep telling everyone that Mr. Bunting is just going to have to wear platform shoes. He only thinks I’m kidding, harhar. OK, maybe I am kidding a bit, but we’ll probably end up getting him shoes that have a bit of a bootheel so the difference won’t be too drastic.

Is anyone else facing a height-difference problem on the wedding day? What is your solution?

Haha! Nope. My man is almost a foot taller than me (6′7″) so I get to wear whatever I like. I’ve got 5″ heels with a 3/4″ platform that have been stashed away for two years now, in my wedding trousseau. Nice work on finding shoes! Talk to your photographer about getting some photos of you sitting, with him standing behind, if he is finicky about the height thing - I know both my sister and her partner are, they’re both 5″11. Good luck!

I’m facing the same issue finding shoes (thank you sooo much for that site!!) I found something I loved on endless and have ordered it. I’m ever hopeful. :D

I don’t have quite the same problem with heights, as my fiance is a couple inches taller than me… but I don’t want to be the same height when we get married! I actually really like that he’s taller than I am. So I’m hoping that I can find some perfect flats, or something with a teeny-tiny heel. It doesn’t really bug him, but I think it’s important!

These are so cute! I’m sure you won’t notice a height difference with Mr. Bunting at your wedding with his dress shoes on. Glad you found something you liked that worked for you!

Oh! I just may have to copy you, these are awesome. I have pops of aqua and mustard in my color scheme and haven’t found shoes. I will be rocking my cowboy boots for the reception but want some cute heels for pics!

you should get them anyway since they are so so cute! try them on and have Mr. Bunting stand next to you (not in converse though) and see is there’s a noticeably difference.

if there is you can go find flats. but keep this for some other time, they are gorgeous!

That heel doesn’t look very high, to be honest–you’ll be fine! Those are sooo cute. :) Great find!

I’d say go with the shoes. If he has a big problem with it, take a few photos of you sans shoes (or have a backup pair for a few photos).

I wouldn’t EVER pass up the perfect heel :)

SO CUTE. I am obsessed with bows. Love. The color is amazing, and the shoe itself is darling.

Those heels… adorbs! If you have a poofy dress maybe you can just bend your knees slightly, ;)

I like the shoes. I like that you like the shoes. But, I’m going to go against the grain here. It’s your FIs wedding day too, and if he doesn’t feel comfortable with his bride being taller than him on his wedding day, I think that you should take that into consideration. Is he the kind of guy that would get over it quickly? Or will he spend the day being disappointed?

I’ll be dealing with this same issue in a matter of months, and while I know I’ll find TONS of wonderful flats, I can’t help but think how stumpy I’ll look.

I think your small heels are a great compromise, though!

Cute heels:)

My FI is taller than me when I wear flats but when I wear 4in heels, I’m the taller. So I will be definitely taller the day of.

I have the opposite problem… I’m 5′5 and my FI is 6′3 but I just don’t think I can handle heels. I never ever wear them (except at weddings, and I kick them off asap) and I have visions of myself tripping down the aisle, or at the very least spending the day veeeerrry uncomfortable. I’m just so tiny in heels though, and I have tall BMs as well!- one of my sisters is 5′11. I think I might just wear the flats anyways because ultimately it’s most important that I’m comfortable and not thinking entirely of my shoes the entire wedding day!

I can’t believe you ordered pair upon pair… haha. Mr. Bunting will just have to deal with you looking AMAZING. I mean at this point, your height difference is a part of your relationship, so IMO I think it’s fine to have the difference. It’s not like he’s ever going to sprout up and grow more to catch up. ;-) Nothing to feel bad about, unless he does want to wear platforms. :)

I have done the same thing with endless, I’m pretty sure they are going to cut me off pretty soon.

I love those though! what brand are they? they might just need to be in my next round of orders.

HOW WEIRD. i was just looking at the exact same shoes for my wedding!! i’m glad you pointed out that they’re seafoam and not aqua, which is really what i’m looking for. as for the height, i am in the exact same situation as you. my FI is the same height as me, but i really really want little heels. we’re getting him a pair of these for the big day: http://www.tallmenshoes.com/dressing.html

maybe they could be an option for mr. bunting!

@annarose: They’re almost in-between seafoam and aqua, so they might still work for your color scheme. And THANK YOU for that link!
@shinyredthings: Daaaang, 5″ heels? Whoo, girl, I would fall and break my neck with the first step!
@rmarie3: Oh, I love aqua and mustard yellow!
@Miss Books: I’ve seen some really cute flats that don’t look stumpy, but none of them fit me very well. If you’re worried about how they look, maybe try to find some with an open toe?
@Mrs Grape: It really isn’t very high, but any sort of a heel puts me taller than him.
@Miss Funnel Cake: I’m telling you, it was like Christmas twice a week for awhile there!
@Doodle: Haha, I was afraid of the same thing! The brand is Joseph Griffin, and they even come in black and a lovely mango orange.
@2ndtime: Thank you for thinking of Mr. Bunting! I don’t think he’d be disappointed on the day regardless of what shoes we were sinc ehe gets to marry me (d’aww). He’s also not one to hold things against me, but I promise to make absolutely sure he’s okay with the heels. :)

You can take them to a cobbler/shoe repair store and they can modify or remove the heel for you so they can be turned into flats.

there are shoe “lifts” made for men. I heard tom cruise uses them. Your groom can wear any shoes he wants and then can insert the lifts in. They are along the idea of an insole so no one will know he is wearing them

Guys’ dress shoes typically have 1 1/2″ heels including the thicker sole already - so it isn’t as bad as you think! If he has any volume in his hair, I think you’re good to go :-)
