About Mrs. High Wire

Changes

May 27th, 2011 @ 11:24 am by Mrs. High Wire

I figured I would change my mind about a variety of wedding details as planning moved along.

Some criteria for changing plans that I try to refer to before doing anything:

  1. The price stays the same or drops.
  2. The change is easily completed by a simple phone call or email.
  3. The change doesn’t induce any unnecessary stress.

Our venue provides tables, linens, and chairs as part of our contract. The price includes any combination of those things for our guests. So, making any changes won’t affect the price.

The rentals don’t need to be finalized until about 30 days prior to the wedding date, so at this point changing the seating will be a simple update to a form I haven’t even submitted yet. Easy peasy!

The reception tables, I assumed, would always look a little something like this:

You know, round tables.

But lately I have been falling head over heels for long, gorgeous, rectangular tables.

Or maybe a little mixture of both?

I really like the idea of having big tables where people can mingle. The tent we’re getting married in can host up to 400 people, so with our guest list of around 150, there’ll be ample room to fit in long tables, I think!

Did you make any changes to your wedding-day plans as you went along? Or did you make a decision and not think about it again until the day of?

They are both great options, so I say have a mix so you can go with both ;) I tend to make a decision and not look back, otherwise I’d never complete anything.

LUUUUURVE the long table!!! We’re still venue-shopping (ha! civ pro!), and that is one of my criteria - must be able to fit long tables! But I think your changes “decision maker” is a great one - round tables are classic and at 150, people will definitely mingle anyway, so don’t stress yourself out if the long tables are pricey or difficult!

I love the look of rectangular tables but unfortunately my venue doesn’t have enough space for those so I’m stuck with rounds :(

I love the rectangle ones too - just remember your budget for centerpieces may have to increase with the long tables!

I went to a wedding where they had both rectangle and circular and it looked great! (planning in doing that on mine). The two long rectangular ones (they where three square ones joined together) where for the “Friends party” makes sense, if you have a large party (family maybe?) and you want something bigger to fit them into (not the 10 chairs on a round table) that’s the way to go! XD

I think we’re going to end up doing a mix for space reasons, and I’m excited that I don’t have to fully commit to one or the other. I say you take a step back and envision your reception to see which one feels more “right” for you guys!
