Mrs. Jaguar's Picture
Mrs. Jaguar, Sydney Age and Occupation: 27, Primary School Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, IT Consultant Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2011 Venue: Curzon Hall About Me: I'm an Australian girl who is a self-proclaimed nerd, loves all things stationery and would be lost without books, music and the internet. Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. Travelling makes me giddy...as does Mr. Jaguar, of course!
About Mrs. Jaguar

Can I start off by saying how happy I was to read some of your comments on my earlier post about having a tiny and tame bachelorette party? High five to my fellow homebodies, woo! I was slightly worried that my attendees (all five of them!) would find the whole evening boring, but I’m pretty sure they ended up enjoying themselves too.

…as did I. I knew I was planning on wearing a veil for the evening (why not?!) and I timed my last haircut before the wedding well, since she ended up putting a bit of curl in, too. My super-fantastic maid of honour even went to the trouble of finding me a nifty crown and sash too. It may have been a small hen’s do, but I certainly felt the part!

There were some nifty balloons and matching tiaras for my five attendees—and even though we weren’t planning on going out anywhere, the girls all wore them ALL NIGHT. Another reason why I love them so much: they are awesome.

There were pizza boxes by the truckload.

There were cocktails with questionable contents.

And we even had our very own bartender for the evening—my little brother!

And there was board game after board game after board game.

I couldn’t have asked for a better night in with the girls. We stayed up way too late, had a nice lie-in the next morning, and the night was over far too soon.

A big shout-out has to go to my best girl (and MOH-extraordinaire) for bringing along the pretty decorations and board games AND to my mum for letting us host at her place.

(You’ll have to ignore my werewolf-arms in this picture—it’s Hipstamatic, not me, promise!)

How did you celebrate your bachelorette party?

My bridesmaid was married in 10/10. She HATES the whole STRIPPER/CLUB scene. Therefore, the night of her Bridal Shower we had a surprise bachelorette party. We made t-shirts, gave her some gifts, and had snack-y foods. We wined on Wine Coolers and had some cds going to keep us pumped all night.

She told us the next week that it was exactly what she wanted. She didn’t even want a bachelorette party to begin with! She wanted to stay in and just hang out with friends!! I think bachelorette parties are sooooo overrated!! =)

My girls did something very similar except it was six girls in a hotel suite. But besides a dinner outing, we were in the suite hanging out and drinking wine the entire time - perfect! Clubs shmubs. Who needs that stuff??

@Heather: That sounds perfect! I’ve seen some great bachelorette parties (and the pics afterwards) but they’re just not for me. ;)

@Mrs. Earrings: I would kind of like to do it again. Maybe this time without the crown?

@Kate: Thanks, it really was great for us! No awkwardness, no ‘having’ to do random bachelorette things just BECAUSE, and no dramas. Lots of fun and games. :)

@Miss Magic: Okay, I love you Magic. You are awesome.

@Miss Balloons: It was great - and much less stressful to organise. (Read: lazy. :D)

@Miss Gazelle: Thanks, Miss G! Definitely a fun night. Even without the penis straws.

@Miss Pain au Chocolat: Nothing wrong with tame, so long as tame still = awesome.

I can beat it on the littleness scale! My “bachelorette party” wound up being my MOH and me going out to eat at Chili’s Fri night. Our miniature golf and movie ideas both flunked, so that was the best we could come up with. :)
