About Mrs. Candy Apple

That Razzle Dazzle

May 27th, 2011 @ 6:09 pm by Mrs. Candy Apple

Way back in the day, I was having some issues deciding on shoes. Because I am oh-so-indecisive. I just couldn’t get my ish together. Same old, same old. Well, really, I just couldn’t stop thinking about these lovelies.

Hello there, beautiful.

They were expensive, but I just could not stop thinking about the bows! And the sparkles! And the pretty slate-grey! And the square, ballerina-slipper-esque toe! Like Cinderella shoes, but cooler.

Anyway, in the happiest of coinkydinks, Kate Spade ended up having a ridoncadonc sale the weekend of my birthday, and Mr. CA, being the sweetheart that he is, decided he wanted to get me these shoes for the reception. (Because we can’t stop thinking about/talking about/ dreaming about/ breathing the wedding in these here parts.) Isn’t he sweet? Really, I think he just got sick of hearing me gush about them. Or, maybe he was tired of driving me to the Kate Spade store and having to watch me stand outside the window, gazing longingly at them inside. I mean, um, no, I didn’t ever do that. And, because the sale was so amazing, he only had to promise up our firstborn child, rather than the first two. What a deal!

Mmm, stripes.

Needless to say, I was quite excited to open them and get those babies on mah feet. Let’s be honest, they do give me a bit of toe-cleavage. But I’ve come to terms with that. My dress is long enough to cover them, really, and if anyone gets a glimpse, they will be razzle-dazzled by the bows and the sequins, and won’t notice my immodest cleavage.

Box within a box.

As per usual, I am obsessed with these shoes. The bottoms are super-smooth, and I slide around on our carpeted floor, so I’m going to need to break them in before the big day. They need a good knifing, perhaps? And let me tell you, I have been so tempted to wear these out and about, particularly since it’s getting nice and sunny. Toe-cleavage be damned - these beauties need to see the light of day! Dang it.

Oh, you want to see them?

Clearly, I love the bows.

Yes, Hive. You have now seen my lack of a badonkadonk. You’re welcome. Happy Friday.

Yummy - blurry toe-cleavage. The best kind.

Obviously, I love them, and I am way too excited to wear these shoes out onto the dance floor. I want the wedding to be here now!! They will just have to wait, I suppose (although I might be wearing them as I type this. Maybe).

Did you get an item of attire gifted to you unexpectedly? Are you planning on wearing different shoes for the ceremony and reception?

Aw, yay!! So pretty - and so sweet of Mr. CA! I….may not be wearing shoes AT ALL, as I accidentally spent two arms, two legs and most of a kidney on my dress….OOPS, (’sokay - am planning on “recycling” via resale after the wedding, so I do not fall into a slough of first-world self-loathing) but until I make some of that back, looks like two paper bags and some twine for me! (ooh! New DIY project idea???!) haha

Oooo Love them!

Try either rubbing the bottoms with sandpaper, or sticking a piece right to the bottom!

We put these “heart stopper” anti slip pads on the bottom of our wedding shoes. Bonus: they made cute pictures.

Wow those shoes are AMAZING! I looove flats, but a lot of time I don’t feel like they have enough wedding pizzazz. Those, on the other hand? They are absolutely stunning and PERFECT! Me = totes jealous! :-)

A trick my aunt told me was to wear the shoes on concrete or a hard rough surface and do two quick spins to roughen up the soles :)

They are really really cute by the way!

Lovely shoes! Totally wear them out once or twice before the wedding, that will help rough up the bottoms, AND you get to wear awesome sparkly shoes out!

LOVE THEM!!! I bought a pair of vera wang flats (also with sparkles and bows ;) ) for the wedding that I love love love, they were ungodly expensive, but worth every penny. I wore a pair of cheaper sparkly grey peeptoe heels for pictures and then was comfy in my fabulous flats the rest of the day and night!

I just have to say–there is nothing immodest about toe “cleavage”! As long are your feet are squeeeeezed into them and they aren’t making your foot skin wrinkle, it is perfectly fine if not awesome. I love it and I love those shoes and they look great on you! Yay!
