Mrs. Bunting, Grand Rapids, MI
Age and Occupation: 24, freelance illustrator & print production
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, graduate of history
Engagement Date: December 3, 2009
Wedding Date: June 2011
Venue: Spring Grove Park & St. George Banquet Center
About Me: I am a freelance illustrator and designer with a love of nature and a taste for adventure. Textures and color fuel my world, along with apple cider and noodles. I'll try anything once, especially if it involves heights or food. I've hiked the Grand Canyon, gone sky diving, cuddled a baby wolf, and now my latest venture consists of designing and planning a large wedding involving color, DIY details, love, and marrying my best friend.
Dessert tables make me drool, and not just because they’re filled with all kinds of sweets and treats. They’ve been catching on a lot lately, and they’re perfect for those who want an alternative to the traditional wedding cake or just an additional dessert bar. They would also be amazing at a bridal shower or really any type of party. Pretty much you can come up with whatever reason you want, and I will be all over it.
Just check out some of these arrangements and you’ll understand why:

Mrs. Pony, Bloomington, IL

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Attorney
Engagement Date: March 22, 2010
Wedding Date: September 2011
Venue: Mackinaw Valley Vineyard; Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts
About Me: I found my Southern counterpart in law school and since he popped the question last March, we have been busy graduating, job searching, bar taking, and wedding planning. My loves include must see TV, magnets, quotes, anything green, my car, fun socks, the Cubs, and my Mr. Together we love wine, playing outside, and exploring the world together. Stay tuned to see our Midwest wedding full of Southern charm, vintage flair, lots of DIY details, and a whole lot o’ wine.
Now that I have my dress in my possession, I cannot stop thinking about how to complete the rest of my look. Who cares that we still don’t have an officiant when there are shoes, jewelry, bags, and hairstyles to look at? You say an officiant is important? OK, yes, I agree with you, but you can’t argue with these pretties:

Mrs. Macarons, Tampa
Age and Occupation: 26, Graphic Designer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Renaissance Man
Engagement Date: September 12, 2009
Wedding Date: September 2011
Venue: Lange Farm
About Me: I'm creative at heart and a graphic designer with an unhealthy obsession with type. I love roller coasters, spicy foods, and a good glass of Crianza. We’re planning a soft and lovely vintage-meets-modern wedding in a state that’s known for its beaches, glitz and glam. I have a ton of DIY projects and lots of little details I’m dying to share and can't wait to celebrate with our closest friends and family.
Rabbits are more important than just a visual element on our invitations, in our decor, and in the Chinese Zodiac. We’re including a reading from The Velveteen Rabbit as part of our ceremony.
When my grandparents would stay with us during the winter, Nana would read it to me as part of my bedtime routine. It was my grandma’s story; I’m sure she grew tired of it, but I never did. When I told Mr. Macarons that I wanted to use it because it had a cute message, he said he wasn’t familiar with it and before he’d agree to it he’d need to read it. A few days passed, and during one of our weekend Skype sessions he revealed that while it was one the saddest childhood stories he’d ever read, it made him even more in love with me. How’d he figure?
It’s kind of hard to evaluate yourself—you tend to miss the qualities in you people value the most. According to Mac, the Skin Horse simply put into words what he’s always felt about me: If I love someone, I love the life out of them (my bunny is a good, tangible example), and then I love them some more no matter the consequences.

Ms. Gazelle, Calgary/Vancouver
Age and Occupation: 32, Engineer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Technology Analyst
Engagement Date: September 3, 2010
Wedding Date: July 2011
Venue: Brock House Restaurant, Vancouver
About Me: I am a marathon runner, cyclist, Ironman triathlete and beautiful shoe fiend who also loves kicking back and watching Glee. I grew up a bit of a nomad as I traveled around the world with my family, living everywhere from Australia to England to South America and Indonesia. I finally settled in Calgary a few years ago and met Mr. Gazelle who loves me even though we cheer for different hockey teams. We are planning a bit of a destination wedding in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia and we can’t wait to share the day with our close family and friends.
It is time to get alterations done on my dress which means figuring out what exactly I’m going to wear underneath it. I decided to scope out the shapewear at Victoria’s Secret—specifically the bust minimizing strapless bra. I may have mentioned that my dress didn’t zip up so I was curious what kind of effect this bra would have. I put on my old standby strapless bra, measured the ol’ bust, put the tape measure in the purse and hightailed it to my closest Vickie’s.
My thoughts on the strapless minimizer? I have never found a strapless bra that actually felt supportive. It has underwire and is made out of a super stretchy supportive fabric. It also has some strong elastic in the back that keeps things in place.

Age and Occupation: 23, Legal Assistant
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Director of Communications
Engagement Date: October 9, 2010
Wedding Date: September 2011
Venue: Clark Gardens
About Me: My loves include yoga, anything spicy, our eccentric cat, our rambunctious dog, and Mr. High Wire, of course! Like the steadiness act of the tightrope walker, this gal is busy balancing life while planning a wedding to the man of her dreams. We’re hosting a laid-back, vintage-inspired, bird themed wedding with heavy doses of love, good eats (did someone say tacos and margaritas?), and endless Texas charm. Mr. High Wire and I are so happy to have you along for the walk across the tight rope.
First off, any HIMYM fans out there (besides Miss Sparkler)? I’m so ready to meet the mother already. (I’m so happy it wasn’t Zoe!!)
I stumbled across this beauty today while searching for blog-worthy images and nearly squirted water out of my nose.

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Application Engineer
Engagement Date: May 30, 2010
Wedding Date: October 2011
Venue: Catholic church followed by a botanical conservatory
About Me: I'm an American designer who moved to Switzerland for love after a fairytale beginning at the top of the Eiffel Tower. I love travel, photography, museums, learning German so I can speak with my mother-in-law, cooking (eating), cuddling, and I'm not afraid to try something new even if it terrifies me. My Swiss/Brazilian man and I are both down to earth people planning a traditional Catholic wedding in my hometown with some quirky cultural exceptions to reflect our different backgrounds. We look forward to celebrating with friends and family from all over the world in a classic, sophisticated fusion of heritage and love.
OK, folks, we can begin branding our shindig: the stamp has arrived! Yeah, “just a stamp,” you say, but I have some hopes that the (KH)² will show up in some other places in the wedding.

Mrs. Brooch, Arlington, VA
Age and Occupation: 25, Writer/Editor
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Front Desk Manager
Engagement Date: October 3, 2009
Wedding Date: April 2011
Venue: Oxon Hill Manor
About Me: I’m an indecisive girlie-girl with a motor mouth, can-do attitude, and knack for making others laugh. I dream of becoming a best selling novelist like Elizabeth Gilbert or Julie Powell (a girl can dream, right?), and love long road trips, a beautiful countryside, music, blogs, books, and all things vintage/thrift/antique/or homemade. I’m a Virgo, i.e. overly sensitive, emotional, and critical, and there’s no such thing as short and sweet in my world. I want to say and do it all. Mr. Brooch grounds me. I point where to go and he figures out the way. He’s a pragmatic fancy-pants who enjoys video games and movies. We both adore our mutt, Rocky, and spending time with our amazingly supportive family and friends. We’re planning a garden wedding with a formal reception with lots of whimsy and unique, Southern-inspired details.
Hey ladies! I miss you all so so much! I thought I’d pop in and let you know I’m still alive! I’m sorry I’ve been away! Newlywed life is wonderful, but I’m still trying to figure out when and how to blog with a new commute, apartment, and responsibilities as a wife (e.g. snuggling on the couch watching TV every night versus sitting in front of my computer)!
The Brooch wedding recaps are on the way, I promise! I CANNOT WAIT to share our big day with you! It’s still so fresh in my mind and I’m super sappy about the whole thing! I choke up all the time thinking of how perfect everything was and the happiness we have now.
Mr. B is an ah-mazing husband!
Just this week he surprised me with a ticket to see Katy Perry in concert next month! Ahh! Any other Katy fans out there? He knew my best friend was going and that I wanted to join her, but I didn’t have money for a ticket! Out of nowhere he said he got me one. Ahh! He’s so full of surprises—I still have to tell you about the chivari chairs and his song. I love him!!! Oh and believe me, every time I hear “Firework” and start belting, he’s on my mind!
I don’t want to leave you without some pro wedding pics because I know you haven’t seen many.

Mrs. Pretzel, Seattle
Age and Occupation: 32 Learning, Training, and Development Specialist
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28 Manufacturing Engineer
Engagement Date: September 2, 2009
Wedding Date: July 2010
Venue: Catholic Church & The Engine Room at Georgetown Studios
About Me: I’m just a thirty-something girl who never dreamed of weddings, poofy dresses, or ritzy receptions. I am a rabid knitter, except recently, wedding projects have replaced my yarn and needles. I’ve been fiercely independent since the age of 2 and 30 years later I think my family and friends had given up on me settling down and getting married.
Ironically, I had to go all the way to Seattle to find a boy from Purdue. We fell in love over Seattle Beers and cooking together. I love NASCAR, he loves Legos. I can talk like a Muppet and he can fit a whole McDonald’s cheeseburger in his mouth. We are a two reception couple, currently planning a brewery inspired bash.
Mr Pretzel and I were introduced at the reception over the last few refrains of Kodachrome by Simon and Garfunkel; an appropriate choice for our colorful wedding. Our DOC ensured the dance floor was clear and that we had a clear path to it so we could immediately start our first dance as husband and wife.

Mrs. Oyster, Dallas
Age and Occupation: 30, Music Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 46, Art Teacher
Engagement Date: January 9, 2009
Wedding Date: July 2010
Venue: The Tower Club
About Me: I'm a Texa-Californian with a penchant for sparkly things and a tendency to think a lot. I've been known to sing random songs or dance when there is no music on. My fiance and I love world culture, we love to travel, and we have an incredibly eclectic taste in music. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to celebrate our marriage with our family & closest friends. We're planning an “urban black-tie” wedding and hope to incorporate our personalities and some of our own interests. We look forward to a life of love, laughter, good music, beautiful art, and to creating our home together with our four (!) cats.
While I was planning, I spent so much time describing to you my process with the dress, that I never really shared the rest of my bridal look with you! I figured I’d let you know how I came about my bridal “look.” It’s interesting how, in the planning of this wedding, I drew my inspirations from soooo many different places.
In general, my look evolved quite a bit. Originally, I was thinking to have an outdoor wedding, with a form-fitting lace dress and my hair down with a flower in it. This look is captured pretty well by America Ferrera’s character in Our Family Wedding, actually (well, at least on the cover—savvy readers know that in the actual movie, her hair is up):

photo from VivirLatino.com (which has a pretty good & insightful review of the film)
But you know what happened to those plans. We shifted to a formal, black tie wedding, so I changed my look to fit that—and I’m so happy I did!

Mrs. Jaguar, Sydney
Age and Occupation: 27, Primary School Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, IT Consultant
Engagement Date: August 8, 2009
Wedding Date: June 2011
Venue: Curzon Hall
About Me: I'm an Australian girl who is a self-proclaimed nerd, loves all things stationery and would be lost without books, music and the internet. Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. Travelling makes me giddy...as does Mr. Jaguar, of course!
Is it bad that I am always, always slightly terrified that I’m not going to fit into my wedding dress? That’s what this slightly crazy, body-fearing girl gets for somehow deciding on a mermaid style gown for the big day—even though it certainly wasn’t planned, that’s for sure. My dress fit just fine at my first fitting a few weeks ago, but I was nervous again this week as I went to try it on after its alterations had been completed.
It fit. (Again, with the heaven thanking.) But even with that, I’m still feeling slightly self conscious.
I think I’m worried less about how I’ll fit into the dress, but more about how I perceive people are going to be looking at me while I’m wearing the dress. It’s ridiculous, I know: everyone keeps telling me that I’ll be too busy enjoying in the lovey-dovey-ness of the wedding day to be worrying about if my arms look flabby or if my tummy isn’t flat… but that’s just it: I DO worry! I worry that my guests will notice those things. I worry that they’ll be obvious in photographs and that I’ll feel self-conscious about my wedding day attire after the day is over.
I’d hate to be called superficial because our wedding day is not at all just about how I look—I know that.

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Researcher
Engagement Date: December 1, 2009
Wedding Date: October 2011
Venue: Barn at Valhalla
About Me: I’m a tall drink of water (5’10”!) and a Southern bride with an enormous appetite for Mexican food, good deals, anything French, and all things wedding! By day I am lucky enough to work with individuals with autism and their families. By night, I’m even luckier to be able to spend time hanging out with awesome friends, crafting, shopping, thinking about exercising, and kicking it with Mr. Magic and our two cats. I tend to have sudden, intense cravings that will not be denied (seafood enchiladas! new jeans!) and I’m prone to being a disorganized mess of anxiety and stress. After waiting (and waiting!) to get engaged, I am finally planning the colorful, fun, fabulously awesome Fall wedding of our dreams. In an effort to share the fun and craziness that is wedding planning, I’m gonna blog about it for y’all---the good, the bad, and the pretty!
Occasionally, I am wrong. Not often, not sometimes, in fact, it’s pretty rare. But occasionally, I am wrong.
As a blogger, I try to stay away from sweeping generalizations or being too extreme. I mean, I stay true to what I like, think, and believe…but I might temper it as to be more reader friendly. One time I said I hated those mustaches on a stick, and surprisingly, nothing bad happened to me. Although now I’ve gone and said it again, so maybe I’m really pushing my luck. [Although I’ve got to admit, if anyone can pull off a mustache on a stick it is the lovely and ohsocool Mrs. Sloth. For reals.]
Anyways, there’s another thing I never really understood about weddings.

About Me: My life is pretty much spent in a sea of fabric, paint, sequins and drama. When I’m not working, I play on a trivia team, take Broadway dance classes, read, buy shoes, and occasionally geek out on video games. I am an American girl who loves all things British and Mr. Waffle is a Brit who loves all things American...I guess it was meant to be!
“Eeeeeeeeeeeee! It’s so amaaaazing! And tiny…ooh it’s tiny!”
This is what Mr Waffle heard from the living room as I opened our cake topper that just arrived from Etsy shop Milk Tea. Poor Waffle isn’t allowed to see it yet because the little people are dressed like us and my dress is being kept super top secret from him (he’s crazy superstitious).
So, before we continue, I need to issue this warning…

Have you ever had one of those things that you knew you wanted to incorporate into your wedding, even before you were engaged or in a serious relationship? I’ve felt this way about paper lanterns. I’m not even sure where I first got the idea, but I know it was well before I was engaged. There’s just something about them that has me drooling…perhaps because they’re essentially suspended colorful drops of happiness.

Mrs. Bacon, Chicago
Age and Occupation: 26, Digital Advertising Manager
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, IT Client Services
Engagement Date: June 17, 2010
Wedding Date: September 2011
Venue: Ravenswood Billboard Factory
About Me: I'm a Midwestern girl that can't seem to commit to staying in one place for too long and is constantly daydreaming about my next adventure. I am an aspiring foodie with a weak spot for the unusual and I love semi-reality food television. My other loves easily include laughing as a form of exercise, a book that I can't put down, summer baseball games, espresso with whipped cream, couch potato days and nights with the ridiculous Mr. Bacon, and our two kitties, Lincoln and Sawyer. We're planning a faux-destination wedding for 150 of our closest friends and family in the city we've both adopted as home that has a modern, yet whimsical twist and as many personal touches as we can manage.
The bridal salon just called to tell me that BOTH of my dresses have arrived and are waiting for me to pick them up. My heart is pounding. Like, going to burst through my chest kind of pounding. There was so much drama surrounding the purchase of not one, but two dresses, that now I’m freaking out. Most brides would be renting a car and zooming out to the ’burbs to try on her dress like 25 minutes ago, but here I am, in front of the computer.
Let’s take a quick inventory. We are three and a half months out. We have a stack of untouched invitations in our living room. We have what seems like a million little paper fans tied with wire for our tissue pomanders in the bedroom. We have shoes for the groomsmen in the closet, but none for the groom. We have wedding party gifts hiding in our storage room. We both have 15 extra lbs on our bones than were there this time last year. We have a million ideas that we have yet to start doing anything with jotted down in a super sized, shared spreadsheet. We have amazing, supportive and helpful friends and family, only half of which we actually have addresses for.
What do else do I have other than two wedding dresses? Anxiety.
