Age and Occupation: 23, Legal Assistant
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Director of Communications
Engagement Date: October 9, 2010
Wedding Date: September 2011
Venue: Clark Gardens
About Me: My loves include yoga, anything spicy, our eccentric cat, our rambunctious dog, and Mr. High Wire, of course! Like the steadiness act of the tightrope walker, this gal is busy balancing life while planning a wedding to the man of her dreams. We’re hosting a laid-back, vintage-inspired, bird themed wedding with heavy doses of love, good eats (did someone say tacos and margaritas?), and endless Texas charm. Mr. High Wire and I are so happy to have you along for the walk across the tight rope.
The weekend of our engagement party was nothing short of a success. There was lots of time for me to spend with my out-of-town family who flew in for the occasion from different states, and also with my friends who made the trip into town (from Dallas to Abilene) for the party.
Friday evening all the friends arrived, and we set up a sea of air mattresses in the living room. We wound up having exactly enough room for everyone!

Age and Occupation: 24, Visual Communication Designer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Application Engineer
Engagement Date: May 30, 2010
Wedding Date: October 2011
Venue: Catholic church followed by a botanical conservatory
About Me: I'm an American designer who moved to Switzerland for love after a fairytale beginning at the top of the Eiffel Tower. I love travel, photography, museums, learning German so I can speak with my mother-in-law, cooking (eating), cuddling, and I'm not afraid to try something new even if it terrifies me. My Swiss/Brazilian man and I are both down to earth people planning a traditional Catholic wedding in my hometown with some quirky cultural exceptions to reflect our different backgrounds. We look forward to celebrating with friends and family from all over the world in a classic, sophisticated fusion of heritage and love.
OK, it’s not really a honeymoon of any sorts…but I was away from the blog world for a week as we spent some time scuba diving. (I’m learning, eeek!) I promise I’ll write about the Swiss wedding when I have some more time to edit photos!

Mrs. Snow Cone, Pittsburgh/Johnstown, PA
Age and Occupation: 23, Public Health Graduate Student
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Engineer
Engagement Date: April 9, 2010
Wedding Date: August 2011
Venue: OMOS Church ceremony/Sunnehanna Country Club reception
About Me: I’m one of the lucky ones---I met my future husband at the ripe old age of 13, started dating him as a mature woman of 15, and have been enjoying the ride ever since. Here we are, 8 years later, living in Pittsburgh, planning a "homestination" wedding in the place our school romance began---Johnstown, PA. I thrive on talking a mile a minute, eating my weight in chocolate, and internet shopping. I love a lengthy to-do list almost as much as I love a healthy amount of chaos in my life. Mr. Snow Cone and I watch countless episodes of Friends and The West Wing on repeat, root for rival college sports teams, and make each other laugh each and every day. We’re putting together a small-town wedding with a big personality and a classically modern (or modernly classic?) look for 250 of our closest family and friends. It’s been 8+ years in the making, and sometimes I still can’t believe I’m finally getting to marry my high school sweetheart!
I pride myself on having my crap together. I like things to be orderly and organized so that I can minimize the stress and uncertainty in my life. I think I’m pretty darned good at dotting i’s and crossing t’s and get overwhelmingly frustrated when others lack my awesome skills in that department. As a result, the entirety of this wedding planning journey has been taxing but nothing my exceptional organizational powers can’t handle. The only downfall of my inherent planning awesomeness is that when I (infrequently) falter, it’s a long, long, way to fall.

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst
Engagement Date: August 16, 2009
Wedding Date: January 2011
Venue: Vintage Villas
About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
Once all of the formal dances were over, it was time to PARTY. I kicked off my heels in favor of something more comfortable…

Mrs. Candy Apple, Princeton Junction, NJ/ Seattle, WA
Age and Occupation: 26, Project Editor
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Attorney
Engagement Date: May 9, 2010
Wedding Date: August 2011
Venue: St. Joseph's Parish, Seattle Tennis Club
About Me: I am a Pacific Northwesterner, born and bred. I have lived in many cities---Santa Clara, Durham (England); Florence; Boston; Princeton Junction---but my heart will always be nestled up near the Cascades and Olympics, which is why we are holding our wedding there. I am a bookworm and a History nerd: I love that my life consists of books, books, and more books, since I work in Publishing! Recently, all waking time not consumed by work and my daily commute has been overtaken by wedding planning. Well, that, and watching Premier-League soccer. There is nothing I love more than a good Tana French mystery, traveling to new places, Anthropologie shopping sprees, Iittala dishware, Kate Spade shoes, impeccable typefaces (think: Archer), and a nice English ale (hellooo, Old Speckled Hen!). Oh, and did I mention my obsession with wedding blogs? Yeah, there’s that too. Join Mr. Candy Apple and me as we prep for our wedding, and, more importantly, our marriage!
Way back in the day, I was having some issues deciding on shoes. Because I am oh-so-indecisive. I just couldn’t get my ish together. Same old, same old. Well, really, I just couldn’t stop thinking about these lovelies.

Age and Occupation: 32, Engineer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Technology Analyst
Engagement Date: September 3, 2010
Wedding Date: July 2011
Venue: Brock House Restaurant, Vancouver
About Me: I am a marathon runner, cyclist, Ironman triathlete and beautiful shoe fiend who also loves kicking back and watching Glee. I grew up a bit of a nomad as I traveled around the world with my family, living everywhere from Australia to England to South America and Indonesia. I finally settled in Calgary a few years ago and met Mr. Gazelle who loves me even though we cheer for different hockey teams. We are planning a bit of a destination wedding in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia and we can’t wait to share the day with our close family and friends.
I realize that I’ve been writing all of this time and I’ve never really told you the story of how the Gazelles came to be.
Like so many modern love stories, Mr. Gazelle and I met through an online dating site, Lavalife. I had spotted his profile, sent him a wink because I thought he was cute, and he sent me a message asking if I wanted to go for a drink. The usual me would have turned him down right away, and maybe after emailing for a couple weeks, then we could meet. Instead, I said yes.

The Gazelles early on in our relationship
We met for drinks on the Friday of a long weekend. As soon as I saw him I totally thought I hit the jackpot because this guy was good looking! Drinks went so well that we met for a movie on Sunday night and then again for a festival on holiday Monday. We had definitely hit it off.

Mrs. Jaguar, Sydney
Age and Occupation: 27, Primary School Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, IT Consultant
Engagement Date: August 8, 2009
Wedding Date: June 2011
Venue: Curzon Hall
About Me: I'm an Australian girl who is a self-proclaimed nerd, loves all things stationery and would be lost without books, music and the internet. Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. Travelling makes me giddy...as does Mr. Jaguar, of course!
Can I start off by saying how happy I was to read some of your comments on my earlier post about having a tiny and tame bachelorette party? High five to my fellow homebodies, woo! I was slightly worried that my attendees (all five of them!) would find the whole evening boring, but I’m pretty sure they ended up enjoying themselves too.
…as did I. I knew I was planning on wearing a veil for the evening (why not?!) and I timed my last haircut before the wedding well, since she ended up putting a bit of curl in, too. My super-fantastic maid of honour even went to the trouble of finding me a nifty crown and sash too. It may have been a small hen’s do, but I certainly felt the part!

There were some nifty balloons and matching tiaras for my five attendees—and even though we weren’t planning on going out anywhere, the girls all wore them ALL NIGHT. Another reason why I love them so much: they are awesome.

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Renaissance Man
Engagement Date: September 12, 2009
Wedding Date: September 2011
Venue: Lange Farm
About Me: I'm creative at heart and a graphic designer with an unhealthy obsession with type. I love roller coasters, spicy foods, and a good glass of Crianza. We’re planning a soft and lovely vintage-meets-modern wedding in a state that’s known for its beaches, glitz and glam. I have a ton of DIY projects and lots of little details I’m dying to share and can't wait to celebrate with our closest friends and family.
As an artist and designer, I use a lot of color and play with texture and patterns when I can. My closet is the same way: a kaleidoscope of shoes, purses, clothing, and accessories. When it came time to talk wedding colors, Mr. Macarons was a bit worried I’d want something like this:

Mrs. Cinnamon Bun, Calgary, Alberta
Age and Occupation: 26, Stage Manager
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Theatre Technician
Engagement Date: June 22, 2010
Wedding Date: June 2011
Venue: Calgary Opera Centre
About Me: I'm a life-long crafter and bookworm living in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. Some of my loves include Lord of the Rings, Sherlock Holmes, knitting, opera, musicals, Etsy, baking, and of course, Mr. Cinnamon Buns. We're keeping our wedding close to home---the venue isn't very far from our house, and we live within walking distance of 6 bridal salons. I'm using the wedding as an excuse to try out every craft project I possibly can, with the endless help and support of my fiance.
Something I didn’t think would need to happen: going back and regularly evaluating our registry choices. But it has. And it’s good! We registered back before Christmas, after a push from my mum. “People might buy Christmas presents off it!” People didn’t. But it meant we got the hard decisions about picking a china pattern done with early on in the wedding process, which was nice. We registered at The Bay (Canada’s equivalent to Macy’s, I guess) and on Amazon.ca.
Just before we sent out our invites, we went back to The Bay and had another look at what we’d registered for. We didn’t put the registry info on the invites, but we did put our wedding website on them, which has links and info about both our registries. While we were at The Bay that second time, we made some changes, things we’d thought of since then. We registered mainly for china, as we’re quite happy with our pots and pans and towels, and I bought myself my own Kitchen Aid 6 months before he proposed. The china pattern we registered for is a set of mix-and-match patterns, and I had decided that we wanted the cereal bowls in a different pattern than we originally chose, etc etc.
I actually found that second visit really helpful.

Here are the options I was considering:
1. All wear the same exact dress.
