Mrs. High Wire, Dallas Age and Occupation: 23, Legal Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Director of Communications Engagement Date: October 9, 2010 Wedding Date: September 2011 Venue: Clark Gardens About Me: My loves include yoga, anything spicy, our eccentric cat, our rambunctious dog, and Mr. High Wire, of course! Like the steadiness act of the tightrope walker, this gal is busy balancing life while planning a wedding to the man of her dreams. We’re hosting a laid-back, vintage-inspired, bird themed wedding with heavy doses of love, good eats (did someone say tacos and margaritas?), and endless Texas charm. Mr. High Wire and I are so happy to have you along for the walk across the tight rope.
About Mrs. High Wire

We’re going to take a little trip down memory lane and check out which dresses didn’t make the cut.

Dear Mr. High Wire,

Thanks! I love you. Scroll quickly past this post, please!

On the evening of our dress-shopping appointment, I came armed with a huge list of dresses I wanted to try on. First, they “reserved” my room.

See my name on the mirror?

While my salesgirl was pulling a hundred dresses, MOH High Wire and my mom tried on some dresses of their own.

MOH and my mommy:

And then, I tried on basically every dress in my size in the store. It took HOURS, folks. MOH, my mom, and the saleslady were real troopers.

I loved this dress, but I’m glad I wound up going with something different. It doesn’t really flatter me that well, and it is HUGELY popular. I keep seeing it pop up everywhere.

This one had pockets, which was fun. The color was definitely not for me. Too white!!

I looooved the back, though! So pleat-y

Flashback: Adventures in Dress Shopping : wedding dallas wedding dress High7 high7

Here’s one that made my boobs look the size of a football field. Not the look I was going for.

My friend got married in this next dress. I was surprised how flattering I thought it looked on me. This also wound up being basically the only dress I tried on that night that actually came with big, durable straps, one of my main priorities! They didn’t have any of the strapped beauties I found online in my size. Lamesauce!

Eh, not the one for sure. It seemed like there was an “arrow” pointing at my crotch.

This next dress made me feel VERY Southern belle-like. Then my lovely maid of honor joined in. We even fanned ourselves and may have channeled a little Gone with the Wind. I do declare!

I did think it made my waist look teeny tiny (always a plus), so the saleslady pulled something she thought would do the same trick.

Eh, a little too plain for me, even with the sash. The big ass bow in the back was pretty, though! May still incorporate that.

A little too poufy! (Can you tell I’m getting a little tired at this point? I was also reeeeally sick and spent most of the appointment blowing my nose. Sexy, right?)

Flashback: Adventures in Dress Shopping : wedding dallas wedding dress High15 high15

The last one I tried on before finding The One. This one wasn’t bad, but as soon as I tried on this dress, I totally forgot about it. Not really a good sign!

And then I found her! Hi, pretty baby. I’m glad you can see the print (and the back of the dress) really well in this picture. I think it is so unique! I’m still definitely making some kind of change to the straps, but haven’t decided on that yet. And maybe I’ll add some kind of embellished sash. We’ll see!

Then you got to ring a bell when you were done.

Ring, ring, ring!

I hope you enjoyed that little trip down dress-shopping memory lane!

Thank-you for sharing your wedding dress shopping day, I’m going to start shopping for a dress soon and I’ve been a bit concerned that I’ll want to try on everything – I’ve been looking for inspiration shots but I’m the sort of person that has to see something on to know it’s what I really like…annoying I know!

Reading your entry has put me at ease as I swear my dress trying-on day will be very similar to yours!

Pretty dresses!!!!! And that last one is really unique, too! It compliments you well. :)

I had fun at my dress-shopping foray, too! I went with just my MOH and she had worked at the DB’s a couple years ago and knew where EVERYTHING was and what size I needed and everything! (Probably why it was such a fun experience, lol).

that dress looks great on you! I’ve never seen one with a print like that before, so good job on thinking outside the bridal box!

I’m jealous of all your tryon pics! We weren’t allowed them anywhere in Swiss land. :-(

I always find it so amazing how different dresses accentuate or flatter (or ruin?) parts of our figures. Like, how does that one dress make your bust look like Pamela Anderson’s? Isn’t it funny how some can give such a different “look” to the whole wedding? You tried on so many pretty dresses that would have been wonderful, but ultimately that dress has got to have the “something something” that makes you love it, right? :)

I like a lot of the dresses on you…..and you did pick the perfect one! I wish you were the model for dresses in magazines. Then women could figure picture how the dress would look on them.
