Mrs. Snow Cone's Picture
Mrs. Snow Cone, Pittsburgh/Johnstown, PA Age and Occupation: 23, Public Health Graduate Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Engineer Engagement Date: April 9, 2010 Wedding Date: August 2011 Venue: OMOS Church ceremony/Sunnehanna Country Club reception About Me: I’m one of the lucky ones---I met my future husband at the ripe old age of 13, started dating him as a mature woman of 15, and have been enjoying the ride ever since. Here we are, 8 years later, living in Pittsburgh, planning a "homestination" wedding in the place our school romance began---Johnstown, PA. I thrive on talking a mile a minute, eating my weight in chocolate, and internet shopping. I love a lengthy to-do list almost as much as I love a healthy amount of chaos in my life. Mr. Snow Cone and I watch countless episodes of Friends and The West Wing on repeat, root for rival college sports teams, and make each other laugh each and every day. We’re putting together a small-town wedding with a big personality and a classically modern (or modernly classic?) look for 250 of our closest family and friends. It’s been 8+ years in the making, and sometimes I still can’t believe I’m finally getting to marry my high school sweetheart!
About Mrs. Snow Cone

At this point in our planning, we have the framework pretty defined. The big picture details are all confirmed and finalized, for the most part, so now it’s easy to pay attention to the tiny little details that very few people outside of the individual(s) planning the event will notice. One of those details? The first kiss.

Admittedly, this is an unbelievably small detail in the scope of the entire day. However, it is one of the most cherished and most photographed moments of the day, so I don’t think I’m 100% bonkers for wanting it to go off smoothly and beautifully. I mean, look at the flak the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge received when their first kiss wasn’t deemed satisfactory. It seems as though there are a good number of ways to make this moment imperfect in the eyes of the observers—too short, too long, too G-rated, too R-rated. Not to mention where you put your face and arms in relation to your partner’s face and arms. That’s a lot to think about if you’re over-analyzing things such as I am! I’ve decided to take action, thoroughly researching the photographic evidence of the available first kiss styles to determine which one is right for the Snow Cones on our big day.

Option 1: The demure, hands-touching-only style: very sweet, good photo visibility for both bride and groom

Option 2: The mild embrace style: a little bit more intimate, but nothing overly dramatic

Option 3: The “c’mere you!” face grab style, male edition: very dramatic and passionate

Option 4: The “c’mere you!” face grab style, female edition: a little sweeter, in my opinion

Option 5: The mutual waist grab style: good for upper body visibility in photos

Option 6: the full embrace style: great emotion behind it

So many options for just one moment! What’s your favorite first kiss style?

Love this! We definitely did not think about this beforehand but ended up with the female version of the face grab. What can I say, I was excited to kiss my hubby!

I LOVE this post SC, and wish I thought about this before our big day. I was so consumed with bliss and threw my arms around Mr. O for a big, crazy in love kiss (option 4). And while we may not have the perfect photo, it is a kiss I’ll never forget. :)

I’m a fan of the male edition face grab, who knows what I’ll get. It’s kind of exciting not knowing how it will happen.

#6! I thought I’d be embarrassed to kiss like that in front of everyone and my grandparents, but I didn’t care. I was so happy to be married to my husband and the photos are priceless.

This is definitely something I will be thinking about! Knowing Mr. P he’ll try to dip me, he’s kind of a ham.

we did #1. Our pastor had us holding hands previously so we just squeezed a little tighter when it was the kiss time!

I totally did the face grab. We didn’t talk about it at all before it happened, and I don’t think I was really thinking. What can I say, I’m a face grabber!

OMG. I haven’t even considered this yet. Do I need to be worrying about this? Oh gosh. No. No, I think I’ll just let it be natural. Ha, yeah right, now I need to go practice. ;)

Okay, I really haven’t thought about this but now I’m completely nervous!!! I didn’t realize there were so many options!!

FH and I are saving our first kiss for our wedding day. We can’t even practice!!!!

(I’m getting butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it!!!) :) :) :)

I didn’t really think about this before hand, but even if I had, I don’t think it would have played out as I’d imagined. Everything is just sort of a blur and who knows where hands go!? The hubster really wanted to dip me when we kissed, or at least he insists he informed me of that before the ceremony, but I truly do NOT remember, nor did that even come to my mind when the time came. We were holding hands during the ceremony, so our kiss turned out just like option 1!

I told the Mister we need lots of practice to see what style works best for us! But I have a feeling we will forget everything in the moment and just go with what feels right.

What a great post idea! Like @Mrs. Trail Mix and @sorens, we ended up with the female face grab. It was totally unplanned, hubs had just asked that we didn’t have a “limp fish” kiss. No worries there! He said afterwards he was SO glad I pulled him in for the kiss. :)

It’s totally something that you do spur of the moment.

Oh my gosh, another thing I have to worry about now! Besides practising the first dance we’ll have to practice the first kiss! I love style number 1 but I guess we’ll see what happens on the big day!
