Two Rings to Rule Them All

June 2nd, 2011 @ 2:02 pm by Mrs. Hyena

Remember when I told you about my wedding ring and how much I worried I wouldn’t like it, but turns out I loved it, and then I refused to show you pictures? Well, hopefully you can forgive me, because I’ve definitely got pictures now!

The rings were not sold together as a set, but the wedding ring was created by the same designer to complement this engagement ring specifically.

Now that we’re married, I don’t have to wear it sneakily around the house when Mr. Hyena’s not there! That’s an awesome feeling.

I think at some point I’ll have them soldered together, since I’ll never wear the wedding band without the engagement ring, but I’m not sure when.

Did your engagement ring match your wedding band? Or did you find something cool and unique? Did you solder your rings together? Why or why not?

I have a set that interlocks and I’m not married yet. The original engagement ring did not fit and couldn’t be resized or it would lose its circular shape. So I picked a new one. yay! and I picked a set that goes together. The wedding band can’t be worn without the engagement ring because it’ll look weird. Not going to solder them together because what I like most about it is that it looks like one ring but splits apart into two. Soldering them together would lose that unique quality.

I’ve been told that soldering them together is better for the rings. Otherwise, they twist and rub and then wear down faster.

I have a wedding band that could be worn by itself because it is a regular circle. I haven’t had mine soldered together yet though becuase I want to be able to still wear the wedding band by itself in the event that my engagement ring center stone gets in the way or scratches our baby that is on the way.

I don’t think I will solder mine together. Thick bands kind of freak me out (irrational fear that it won’t come off my hand? maybe.) Yours look perfect together, I love it!

@Miss Pony: I’m the same way with the irrational fear!

Mrs. Hyena, those are gorgeous! So glad you’re able to share with us now. :)

I have a matching set that I won’t be soldering together. I hate the way that looks and what if I want to only wear one of them one day (like maybe if I went on vacation and didn’t want to wear my diamond engagement ring)

Beautiful band and ring. And boy do they sparkle! My band is very different from my ring, which is why I would never solder them together. I love them each on their own just as much as I love them together. Plus, I like to have the option to go more simple with just the band when I’m going to the supermarket or somewhere quick out of the house.
Would love to see a closer look of your set. :D

Gorgeous rings, Mrs. H! :) Like you, my bands were curved to fit under/around my halo e-ring, and I wouldn’t ever wear them without my e-ring. I procrastinated on soldering them together after our wedding, but once I did it I was SO glad I did! It makes them look more “complete” in a way. Good luck with what you decide!

I will not be soldering (?) my rings together because I may want to wear just my band every now and then. My sister does this and calls it her “sport mode” (i.e., she doesn’t like a big diamond engagemnt ring being subjected to risk when she is out hiking or bike riding).

My wedding band was custom made to fit my vintage engagement ring. I’m afraid to solder them together without damaging the value of the vintage ring over time. But I definately can’t wear the band alone….it’s a delimma.

My wedding band can’t be worn by itself either (it’s an enhancer piece that my ring fits into). I am thinking about having them solder, but am unsure.

@CameraGirl87: Good to know!
@Miss Pony: Luckily mine isn’t too thick. I have small fingers!
@Miss Bunting: @Miss Candy Apple: @Miss High Wire: Thank you!
@blanket: If you click on the picture, a larger version will open.

@Mrs. French Fries: Thanks FF!
@Abby C.: There’s always time to decide later! That’s an issue for future Abby. ;)
@Miss Snow Cone: Thank you!
@Kcoleybear: Take it to a good jeweler, and they should be able to solder them in a way that makes them look the same as they would naturally. Then you don’t have to worry!
