Little Green Straws

June 3rd, 2011 @ 2:41 pm by Mrs. Cinnamon Bun

Our cute green striped straws have arrived!

Here they are with one of our stamped napkins:

And here is the box full of stuff for the caterer:

Little Green Straws : wedding calgary decor 5777933

400 straws and 150 hand-stamped napkins. I bought the napkins from Ikea, and stamped them with a few different book quote stamps from Papertrey Ink. I used Staz-On ink, as outlined in my tests here. A hundred and fifty napkins took about half an hour of Myth Busters.

We are thinking of cutting some of the straws in half, for highball drinks, so more people get to use them.

They’re two things that aren’t necessary for a wedding, but they’re cute and fun so we did them anyway.

What is your favourite “useless” wedding detail?

I’m a sucker for those striped straws. They were on my list of “unnecessary but totally fun” items, but I don’t think they’re going to make the cut after all. Yours look great with those napkins! I love that green.

Love these straws! Wish I could incorporate something like this at my wedding :-) My “useless” wedding detail are probably my napkins that say “eat drink and be married”. I love them, but I don’t think anybody will notice :-) Oh well!

Striped straws are necessary for me! They are on every inspiration board I have made!

LOVE everything about everything in this post. The napkins, the quotes, the straws, the green…perfection.
How did you come to that number of straws? This makes me a bit worried that we won’t have enough.

I love swirly paper straws! We are using them too — only grey ones. That is a fabulous idea to cut them in half for certain drinks/glasses.

I think those straws are so cute!

Totally didn’t need cocktail napkins, but I got them because they were in our colors and I could personalize them.

Um, I gocco’ed over 1,000 napkins with fun facts because I fell in love with it from Mrs. Cupcake. I also DIY’ed drink flags and made memo boards for my photobooth and advice corner (I’m using a wishing bowl with cards for guests to give advice, wishes and predictions instead of a guestbook). I also gocco’ed photomats for our photobooth even though the photobooth comes with its own mats. My FI has been lamenting the day I first got on WB :)

Where did you buy the straws? I’ve also been looking for green straws, which are much harder to find.

Stripes straws are really fun - I bought them for our engagement party and they looked so cute! My suggestion, though, is try one out in a drink first - ours started to disintegrate in the person’s cup after about 10 minutes. No bueno. Not sure what you could do to prevent it, but at least you’d be aware of the problem!

@Miss Pony: The website sells them in 150 units, I thought 150 sounded like too little, so I went to buy 300, and there is an option to buy 400 that was a couple bucks more than 300. I think it is probably overkill, but I’ll totally use them at home.

I think that straws and beverage napkins are needed for a cocktail hour. I guess they don’t HAVE to be coordinated but it’s nice.
BTW, I think you mean that you are going to cut the straws for use in lowball glasses if you are using highball glasses then leave them full length.

This might be a really dumb question…..but they are paper straws….wont they go soggy after awhile? we are having a picnic wedding with mason jars, i would love to serve the straws with the drinks, but i am afraid that just after an hour or so they will get gross….Help!
