The Hair Flower

June 7th, 2011 @ 4:06 pm by Mrs. Bunting

I know it’s been a popular wedding trend over the last year or so, but sometimes a trend is so appropriate for your own wedding that you just have to grab a noisemaker and hop on that jolly ol’ bandwagon. Folks, trends typically become trends for a reason (because they’re awesome), and there comes a time in every bride’s life when one trend just cries oh, hell yes. Well, I have heard that cry, and I’m unashamed to tell you that I’ve got two handfuls of noisemakers for the bandwagon ride!

What bandwagon will I be riding today? Hair flowers and fascinators, of course!

I think they add a perfect touch of romance and femininity to any bride, and they’d be just beautiful for outdoor ceremonies. There are so many colors and variations out there that it’s easy to find one that fits your personality and style like a glove (without looking like everyone else’s). OK, maybe it’s not easy but only for the fact that there are SO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM. I can’t help but feel like Eric Foreman from That ’70s Show, only substitute hair flowers for the panties.

FLOWERS!

GLORIOUS

FLOWERS!

I was unable to pick just one, so I selected my favorite flower-making Etsy seller to ask if she wouldn’t mind making a custom bloom to combine all my favorite elements. Starting with one of her standard double-bloom pieces as a base, Tania (who is such a lovely lady) from Percy Handmade worked with me until we came up with a flower that incorporated everything I could ever dream of having in a hair flower. While it’s still over in Australia, the photos Tania sent have me drooling in anticipation.

It’s blossoming (oh no she didn’t) with visual textures, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The petals are made from very soft satin and lace in pink champagne and ivory, and the little ivory blossom even has some pink pearls in the center. Isn’t it just lovely? I think it will compliment the style of my dress just perfectly. Now bring on those hair trials so I can see it in action! Oh, wait, I need to wait for it to get here first, don’t I?

Are you jumping on the bandwagon for a trend you simply just love? Could it be for the silky hair fascinator, too?

So pretty!!!

I jumped on the flower fascinator bandwagon too, despite believing in the beginning that they would not fit my style. Choosing one out of the millions available was not an easy task.

Running off to drool over a new Etsy seller’s store. ;-)

I LOVE IT!!! So elegant and beautiful!!

I’m making my own fascinator and flowers, and I am getting practice from making them for a few friends that want them for the summer :) I love flowers and fascinators and that was the first decision I made after saying yes to my FI.

I jumped on the flower bandwagon myself. It’s a fun place to be filled with pretty flowery goodness.

I had a hair flower and adored it. I chose a real orchid for the big day and it worked out perfectly! I love your fascinator!

I wanted to have a hair flower SOOO bad. It was the only thing I was for sure I would do when I got married, before I got married…and then I tried one on…and I look just plain dumb with a hair flower, hair jewelry, a tiara. Evidently I just don’t like stuff in my hair :(

I don’t know if it’s that “trendy”, it seems like a very classy, timeless look. Very elegant.

That flower is beautiful. I have a couple of hair flowers except I bought two of each one because I wear them on my shoes. They jazz up a dull pair of shoes or an outfit. Just clip them to the back, and wham-o - a new pair of shoes.

PLEASE can I wear a Princess Beatrice fascinator? If it’s light grey to match my shoes?

@colleewoggs: It sure is!
@lisaelanna: Aww, that’s too bad!
@Miss High Wire: Me too! :D
@mariewest: Thanks!
@casielauren: Oo, the best of both worlds!
@carol: I’ve been wanting to try cute shoe flower clips for awhile. Do they stay on relatively well?
@MOH Bunting: I was planning on buying it for you, actually!

I *just* decided I want a hair flower too! I’d seen so many other brides with them I never gave it a thought, surely it’d been done enough. But then I started thinking of hair ideas and I realized I want a flower in my hair! Now I just need to find the right flower for me and my dress (and the park we’ll be married in).
