Over time I’ve been slowly starting to collect different decorative items that we’ll need for the soiree.

What you are looking at: Big wooden framed board full of lovey-dovey quotes, vintage-y mirrors for the reception tables (I have a total of 10), assorted decorative items, and family heirloom items.
Flea Market and Thrift Store Finds
We went to the Canton Trade Days a couple of weeks ago, which is a humungous flea market in East Texas.
I found the makings for our cake topper! An adorable little nest with two itty-bitty birdies.

I’ll probably remove the three eggs inside the nest, since they might insinuate some sort of pregnancy/fertility/things we aren’t focusing on during the wedding day.
For a little size reference:

The date cube display below is another find from Canton. I definitely plan to repurpose this in our home after the wedding!

Here it is broken down where you can see how the other dates are able to be displayed throughout the year.

One weekend I was bumming around an old thrift store with my friend when I found the following few little odds and ends! An ivory decorative plaque, plump ceramic birdie (!!!), and a wooden acorn. These cost a total of less than five dollars.

At the same store I also found a really cool vintage golf-themed paper organizer, but when I got it home I noticed the inside was full of mold! Gross. It has since been officially retired.
Family Heirlooms and Trinkets
Below is the cake topper from my grandmother’s wedding 25 years ago to a wonderful man named Herb who passed away a few years ago. We’ll probably put it on display on the cake table. Family-heirloom pieces like these make my heart melt!

This is another family hand-me-down of a photo of my great grandmother and great grandfather: Celia (where my middle name is derived from) and Willie. You can also see the lace inside the frame, which came from her dress in the photo. She made the dress herself.

It is also the photo I’m holding in the following picture:

Next up in the family-heirloom category is this amazing lace tablecloth that belonged to my great grandmother and her dining room table. Please ignore my terrible folding skills! My attempt to make it look shabby-chic just looks messy.

Look at the amazing detailing in this. Oh, I just love it.

We’re going to be using it for our chuppah, or Jewish wedding canopy.
For the Kiddos
In my master plan to keep every single child completely entertained for the majority of the wedding, I’ve been collecting various activities and coloring books for our wee ones.

So everything is coming along nicely! Taking my time to look for good deals and compile everything over several months has kept this process relaxing and low stress. Some of my favorite activities.
Roland kept me company while I photographed all these goodies.

Did you collect things over time or order everything in one huge purchase?
