Mrs. Marmalade's Picture
Mrs. Marmalade, Norwalk, CT/Raleigh, NC Age and Occupation: 27, Administrative Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Army Officer Engagement Date: December 31, 2009 Wedding Date: July 2011 Venue: Old Cadet Chapel/Highlands Country Club About Me: I'm a Tri-State area "lady," through and through. A big chunk of my life has been split between NYC and Connecticut, and I'm finally heading down south to live with Mr. Marmalade. Our long distance relationship has been one adventure after the next, we've spent time in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and Georgia, thanks to his military career. Next to Mr. Marmalade, my loves include live music, useless trivia, shoes, design, and my crazy half-tiger kitty, Oliver. I have a passion for food and wine, and I've been known to travel long distances to get my hands on the best meals. I come from a tight-knit big fat Greek Ecuadorian family---we're loud, we talk with our hands, and we spend hours talking loudly with our hands over large meals. I'm going to miss them so much as I pack up and begin my life, far away from home. But with Mr. Marmalade by my side, I'm ready to take on whatever may come. Next up: our wedding!
About Mrs. Marmalade

When it came to the decision of whether or not to have a military wedding, I was on the fence. Frankly, I’d never imagined the possibility of a military wedding would ever be in the cards for me—that was until I fell in love with Mr. M. Funny how things like that work out…

Suddenly, the sensible suits and sleek ties I admired on wedding blogs became Army Blues with all their regalia. What to do, what to do?

Weighing Our Options---Military Wedding? Pt. 1 : wedding raleigh rings 22 22

Um, is that a gorgeous shot of wedding bands delicately balancing on the tip of a sabre? Oh it is? Mmkay, just checking.

Sigh…

Love a man in a suit or in uniform! A tough choice, but with handsome outcomes either way. ;)

I have always loved pictures of a military wedding. I love the pomp and circumstance, the tradtions, and the classicness of it all.

I’m having a military wedding and am SO excited about it. There’s so many fun things to do and like @Mrs. Tartlet said, “love a man in a… uniform…”

Another cool thing is this: goo.gl/sWFfV

My best friend married an officer in the Marine Corps, and they didn’t know if they wanted to go all-out with a military wedding, so they sort of split the difference - they didn’t have a full military wedding with all his fellow officers as attendants, but he did wear his uniform and they used his sabre to cut the cake. I love military weddings though. And I love that photo with the sabre and the rings.

oh totally DO IT! In addition to the dashing military uniforms, the sabre arch thing is, in my opinion, the absolute coolest way to leave the ceremony. I come from a military family (7 of my dad’s 11 siblings+my dad graduated from military academies, and my brother just graduated from West Point in May), but am not marrying a military man and I’m kinda sad that the sabre arch is simply not in the cards for me…

Fiance and I are having the same discussion. I’m letting him pick since he’s active duty. If he wants to wear it awesome: he, his brother, his best friends, and our fathers are all military. Idea - scope out some venues and decide on a date (thinking wool uniforms in summer in NC) if you’re on the fence. Whatever you pick will be fantastic!

I’m hoping that if a military wedding is in your future, you have a similarly gorgeous band shot. Perfection!
